2006 Lamborghini Gallardo
With the purchase of Lamborghini by Audi/Volkswagen in 1998, an interesting challenge arised: adjusting the hot-blooded and temperamental machines to the Teutonic levels of quality and engineering. The result was the Italian supercar maker’s Lamborghini Gallardo. It met Audi’s mission to keep the style and attitude of V12-powered cars like Countach, Diablo and Murcielago but to make the car more usable and livable for daily use. This has been greeted with very positive reviews and strong sales, since the Gallardo’s debut in 2004.
The aluminum V10 engine has been upped slightly for 2006 and tops out at 520 hp at 8,000 rpm and 376 pound-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. It launches the car from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds. The gasoline consumption is estimated at a 10 mpg city / 19 mpg highway rate. The V10 features an 18-degree offset crankshaft for even firing, continuously variable valve timing, dry-sump oiling and a variable-length induction system. All the V10 power is fed to the pavement through an AWD system that can vary front-to rear, if necessary, as the suspension front and rear is a double-wishbone design. The stopping duties are handled by the Beefy Brembo brakes that have eight-piston calipers clamping things down up things.
2004 Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT
Since the introduction of the Murcielago in September 2001, there has been an increasing demand for a high performance model based on the Lamborghini flagship, therefore Audi AG, current owner of Automobili Lamborghini SpA, decided the time was right to built such an extreme car.
Developed by Automobili Lamborghini SpA, with the help of Audi Sports Division and well known German based Reiter Engineering, the Murcielago R-GT was be built to FIA and ALMS specifications.
First rumours mentioned only three cars would be built, and no customer cars would be available, but the press conference on September 9. in Frankfurt told otherwise. customer cars would be available during 2004 for a base price below 560000$, note that the Murcielago R-GT is unfortunately not street-legal.
Since its introduction, at least seven examples have been constructed, which have seen action in Europe, North America and Asia.
2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder
The Gallardo Spyder is not just an open-top version of the Coupe, but is a completely new model. It has an attractive new design and a unique system for opening and closing the fabric roof that utilizes the engine compartment to store the folded roof.
The Lamborghini Centro Stile and engineers from the Research and Development team have worked in close partnership to develop this new design and to bring these clean and sharp lines on the road.
Gallardo Spyder Design
The original design vision for the Gallardo was created in the year 2000 and this vision continues with the ”open” version.
The dimensions of the Gallardo, combined with its competitive performance targets, ensure the car has an athletic compactness. The long wheelbase complemented by short overhangs dynamise its appearance. The Gallardo Spyder features typical and unique mono-volume proportions, which integrate the Lamborghini design attributes of purism, athleticism and sharpness.
2006 Lamborghini Gallardo Privilegio
In order to demonstrate the wide range of interior and exterior customisation options that are currently available, Automobili Lamborghini are to present the new Gallardo Privilegio which will be limited to just 150 units. All these will be based on the Coupé version of the Gallardo – which is now Lamborghini’s best selling model ever – with dimensions and engine specifications remaining the same as the standard MY2006 model.
The new Gallardo Privilegio follows a recent pattern now being established by Lamborghini to maximise sales of the maturing Gallardo model, which was started last year when the special Gallardo SE appeared in public for the first time at the Frankfurt IAA in September. With its distinctive shiny black engine cover, roof panel and door mirrors, the Gallardo SE was limited to 250 units – all of which sold out prior to the car being unveiled. At the same time Lamborghini introduced the new Gallardo Spider which is expected to account for the majority of the 5.0-litre V10-engined sportscar’s production totals this year, leaving the Coupé slightly in the shade
2007 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640
LP640 means Longitudinale Posteriore 640 hp, and it refers to the position and power of the V12 engine, that gains 60 hp on the previous Murcielago (from 580 to 640 hp at 8,000 rpm, while the torque grows from 479 lbs-ft to 469 lbs-ft at 6,000 rpm).
The technician in Sant’Agata Bolognese made new cylinder heads, a new crankshaft, new camshafts, a new exhaust sytem, with a single, gigantic and menacing central exhaust tube.
Top speed is now even higher than the 210h of the old Murcielago, while it accerates from 0-60 mph in 3.3 second (down from 3.8 seconds).
The body is almost entirely built in carbon fiber (except for steel door panels).
What can one say of the renewed styling ? It’s even more “monstruos”, even more menacing. The message seen from the front is “move over”, from the rear it’s “eat my exhaust”.
X 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo GT3
Reiter has already received orders and further considerable interest from privateer customers, and the finished product will be available in February. Further technical details on the race car will be available over the next two months, while a ‘street’ version of the Gallardo GT3R will follow within the next month.
Last weekend the first derivative of the proposed Gallardo GT3 Race successfully completed a two-day shakedown test in the hands of the newly founded Lambo-Racing customer team. The 4-WD car was developed and built by Reiter Engineering at the customer’s request, in time for them to prepare for the start of the 2006 VLN Nordschleife Championship.
2009 Lamborghini Lagartijo
The story is based around the discovery of advanced design studies by student Emily Sawamuru that were developed as part of a Lamborghini-sponsored at the Pasadena Art Center in California. The Center is one of the world’s top automotive design colleges, and carmakers often use students for this purpose. The car itself looks set to be a four-seater GT based on an Audi-supplied aluminium space-frame chassis.
The report on the Lamborghini Lagartijo suggests that the 6.2-litre V12 will be front-mid mounted, and that it will generate a hefty 620bhp and a seriously meaty 511lb-ft of torque. It shares its name with the famous matador who spared the life of the famed bull Murciélago. The car, if produced, may run around $300,000 USD.
