Fernando Alonso recently had his thumbs insured so if we were him, we’d steer clear of comedians Ken Jeong (Knocked Up, The Hangover) and Joel McHale (host for The Soup) for now.

The two comedians recently partnered with Sprint to wage a war on thumbs, that is thumbs that are used for texting. You can come out now, Fernando. You’re thumbs aren’t in any danger.

In the never-ending crusade against texting while driving, Sprint has released a PSA featuring McHale and Jeong, both of whom are leading the war against the perils of texting while driving. Texting while driving is one of the biggest reasons teenagers in America are getting into more car accidents these days so, if you’re willing to join the war against this latest trend, Jeong and McHale have a simple message for you: put a sock on those thumbs! That way, you won’t be inclined to text when you’re behind the wheel of your car. Check out the video for the full PSA.

Ford must be burning throught its advertising budget quickly given that they’ve released a number of commercials for the new Mustang – both the V6 and the 5.0 GT. After showing two new commercial ads the last two days, we have here number 3, which will make it’s TV debut tonight during the American Idol results show.

Ford initially released a 60-second version of the ad, but immediately pulled it in favor of the 30-second version. Either way, we fully expect the longer version – maybe this one too – to be shown on TV during AI. Admittedly, we’re big fans of the show so we probably wouldn’t have missed it even if Ford didn’t release the commercial ahead of this evening’s show. However, now that they did, we can show it to you, but you still might want to tune in tonight for the Top 6 elimination episode. We know we will…to see the Ford commercial on air for the first time, of course.

Lost in the hooplah surrounding the more highly-touted models in Hyundai’s sedan line – we’re looking at you Genesis and Sonata – is the kid brother in the family, the Hyundai Accent – or Verna, depending on what part of the globe you’re in.

Well, kid brother finally got his chance in the spotlight after Hyundai unveiled the Accent at the 2010 Beijing Motor Show as the Verna. With design cues that look eerily similar to the Sonata, the Hyundai Accent comes with a number of engine platforms, including 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter variants that, according to Hyundai, would come with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

The Accent is scheduled to drop in China at the latter part of the year with the other markets scheduled to follow suit sometime in the next year. In the meantime, you can check out this video of the 2011 Hyundai Accent getting his moment in the sun in Beijing.

Brett Favre may not have made it to the Superbowl but thanks to Hyundai, he’s still going to be part of the show.

Hyundai’s Superbowl commercial features no less than the gunslinger accepting a holographic Superbowl MVP trophy. The only problem is, it’s 2020 and Favre is 50 years old. In true Favre fashion, Old Brett accepts his trophy yet still is undecided about his future.

On the contrary, Hyundai assures you that its 10-year/100,000 mile warranty will still be covered at that time, leaving us to ponder that if Hyundai can be so decided on something like this, why can’t Brett Favre do the same?

In the word’s of the brand’s tag line, think about it, Brett.

It’s no secret that the new 2011 Bentley Mulsanne is a lot more expensive than most cars being released these days. And by a lot more, we mean a lot more. Regarded as a luxury car unlike any other, the Mulsanne was created by Bentley with an objective of infusing old-school coach-building techniques with state-of-the-art technology and build a one-of-a-kind luxury car that would be the envy of its competitors.

In this video detailing the construction of the Mulsanne’s body at the company’s production facility in Crewe, England, Bentley’s project director, Ashley Wickman explains the fundamental design for the Mulsanne project from the car’s fundamental designs based on their concepts all the way to the production of each individual panel that will eventually comprise the Mulsanne’s body. According to Wickman, the whole process of building the body of the Mulsanne takes about 170 man-hours of painstaking labor.

It goes without saying that when building a car with the stature of the Mulsanne, even the minutest of details matter, which is precisely why the Bentley Mulsanne is what it is: a super-duper luxury car that a lot of us can only dream of riding – let alone, owning.

If you believed that Schumacher can only drive Ferrari models, think again! Adding a new twist to the recent gravity defying SLS AMG, Mercedes has recruited their latest F1 superstar, seven time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher to create one of the more memorable automobile advertisements in recent memory.

Ever since Mercedes’ latest super car was first introduced last September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the car has created the kind of buzz that’s reserved for only a handful of cars in history. And just when it seemed like we’ve seen everything there is to see with the SLS AMG Gullwing, Mercedes comes out with a video where the super car seemingly does the unimaginable.

If you haven’t heard about the controversial “Late Night Wars” between NBC, Jay Leno, and Conan O’Brien, then we have to ask you exactly what rock you’re living in.

For those that are in the loop, you probably know the news that Conan O’Brien is leaving the Tonight Show after only seven months to job after being forced out by NBC and Jay Leno. We could go on and on about the story but we’ll save it for another time.

Anyway, seeing that his days as host of the Tonight Show are numbered, Conan spared no expense in racking up NBC’s bills by inviting special new characters to his show that are not so much as ’funny’ as they are ’crazy expensive’.

True to his word, Conan wasted little time inviting his first new character to the Tonight Show: the Bugatti Veyron Mouse!

You’ve probably seen this video a thousand times dubbed countless other times; but still, you probably can’t help watching it over and over again, especially if it comes out with some new material.
The Adolf Hitler ‘Downfall parodies’ have been nothing short of hilarious and the latest one, which involves Hitler’s reaction when he finds out that rally car driver Ken Block has switched from his beloved Subaru to Ford is arguably one of the best versions we’ve seen. We don’t know who to feel worse for; Hitler for seeing Subaru lose its driver to the ‘enemy’ or Subaru for having Hitler as a fan.
But hey, at least Travis Pastrana has a new fan now.
Trust us; the video is a must-watch and if you’ve got a few minutes to spare, we invite you to check it out; it’s worth the laughs.

When you’re watching a Formula One race and you see a driver inexplicably lose control of his car before crashing it, which is then followed by the announcers repeatedly explaining that the car’s brake rotor had caused it to lose braking, wouldn’t you want to see exactly how all of this happens?
Fortunately, the folks over at Modern Marvels were curious about the same thing so they did what inquisitive people do best: they tried to do it themselves.
Of course, the whole experiment is nothing more than just a simulations test so it doesn’t really capture the overlying experience of a brake rotor exploding at speeds in excess of 200 mph, but at the very least, you’ll know what’s bound to happen if you do decide to try it for yourself.

The perks of being Jeremy Clarkson certainly knows no bounds. As the host of quite arguably the number one car show in the world, Clarkson virtually has unlimited access to just about every car in the world he so wishes to drive.
As if that privilege alone isn’t enough, Clarkson can make trips to any part of the world on somebody else’s dime, which is what he found himself in after being invited by Arctic Trucks of Iceland to film a special segment of Top Gear on – of all places – the North Pole.
As you can imagine, Clarkson and top wing-man, James May had a truckload – no pun intended – of fun during their expedition with Clarkson even getting a chance to take the satnav-equipped Toyota Hilux around for a spin across the frozen wastes and wild landscape of Iceland.
Check out the entire episode in three parts and maybe after watching it, you’d want to book yourself your very own multi-day tour of the Polar ice cap courtesy of Arctic Trucks.

CONQUER THE ARCTIC WITH TOYOTA HILUX

15th January 2010 – Millions of television viewers around the world witnessed the mighty Toyota Hilux becoming the first car to be driven to the Magnetic North Pole, with Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson at the wheel. Now intrepid drivers have the chance to get behind the wheel of a similarly awesome Hilux and test their skills across the frozen wastes in a new range of adventure off-roading tours.

Reykjavik-based Arctic Trucks, the specialist company which engineered the Hilux to cope with the extreme conditions of the Top Gear challenge, is offering trips of between two and five days and longer expeditions through the wild landscape of Iceland. Its fleet of vehicles includes two Toyota Hilux Invincible Double Cabs equipped with special features to meet the demands of tackling the country’s tundra, glaciers, lava fields and mountains, including a set of giant 38-inch tyres that allow the vehicle to traverse deep snow and thin ice.

Arctic Trucks began business as part of Toyota Iceland in 1990 and has since built up impressive experience and a worldwide reputation for modifying 4WD vehicles for use in extreme conditions. Toyota models prepared by the company have supported expeditions to both the North and South poles, outperforming more familiar arctic vehicles such as half-tracks and Snowmobiles.

Those looking to enjoy the benefits of Hilux ownership for more everyday driving duties can take advantage of Toyota’s new 2010 revised model range. Notably Hilux’s 2.5 D-4D has been given a 20 per cent increase in power and more torque, significantly enhancing performance. The high-power 3.0 D-4D engine is now exclusively available in the Invincible Double Cab.

More than 12 million Hilux have been sold globally since its 1972 debut, and in terms of annual sales it ranks as Europe’s most popular pick-up.

If there was one tuning house you’d trust to spice up a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering ranks right up there at the top. Known for building some of the fastest Corvettes in the world, Lingenfelter has built a reputation as a “Corvette Whisperer”, finely tuning these Chevy sports cars and turning them into full-fledged beasts on wheels. Their latest piece of handiwork is a Corvette ZR1, which, as you can see in the video, has been amped up to produce staggering results at a recent test run at the Maryland International Raceway last December. Outfitted with a number of performance modifications, the Jetstream Blue Metallic ZR1 was able to clock in speeds of over 145 mph in just under 10 seconds (9.813 seconds) – a remarkable time by any stretch of the imagination.

As you can imagine, a Corvette posting that number wouldn’t be possible without the help of some enhancements, all of which Lingenfelter had in abundance. Among the key modifications the tuning house did on the ZR1’s already powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine include a cast aluminum air intake snout and an 11-rib, 2.6-inch pulley, an upgraded air filter, a four-inch diameter intake tube with mass air sensor, a ported throttle body, and a cast aluminum air inlet. The result of the Lingenfelter’s body of work is a ZR1 that churns out as much as 740 horsepower and 740 lb/ft of torque, an dramatic increase in output compared to what standard ZR1s are capable of

DECATUR, Ind. -Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) is pleased to announce the Lingenfelter 2009 C6 Corvette ZR1 recently made three 9 second runs, hitting a best of 9.813 quarter-mile at 145.74 mph at the Maryland International Raceway, Budds Creek, Md.

Building on a rich history of finely engineered vehicle packages, Lingenfelter has refined the high-performance Corvette ZR1 to deliver maximum horsepower and torque utilizing the stock engine. The Lingenfelter ZR1 has been upgraded with the company’s LS9 components designed to provide 739 rear-wheel horsepower and 740 rear-wheel torque.

Lingenfelter’s 9 second quarter-mile was run with stock exhaust manifolds and a factory catback exhaust with a “Mild-to-Wild” switch. To see the ZR1 in action, visit www.lingenfelter.com/video.

“The track is the ultimate proving grounds to showcase Lingenfelter’s years of engineering expertise and to test the performance capabilities of our ZR1,” said Ken Lingenfelter, owner, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. “We are excited to continue developing product that pushes this sports car to the limit.”

Additional upgrades to the Lingenfelter ZR1 include:

There’s no excuse for crashing a car, let alone doing it while under the influence of alcohol so when we found out that a 21-year-old girl did all of the above – in a Maserati Quattroporte, no less – we kind of figured that she’s going to be in a heck of a lot of trouble.
After having one too many alcoholic beverages for her own good, Alex Ford decided to have an even better time behind the wheel of the borrowed Maserati. Initial reports indicated of a speeding Quattroporte to which, Officer Tracy Sheets was quick to respond to.
It didn’t take long for Ford and Sheets to meet though, after the Quattroporte crashed head-on into Sheets’ police cruiser, severely injuring the police officer and leaving Ford in a pretty bad mess of her own.

Both ladies were taken to a hospital and after some initial concerns about their status, both Ford and Sheets have since been upgraded to good and fair conditions, respectively.

As far as Ford is concerned, her good fortune was all too fleeting as after a blood draw determined her alcohol level, a warrant was issued for the reckless driver where she’s facing charges of intoxicated assault causing serious body injury to a peace officer.

We don’t mind sounding like a broken record in the interest of safety, but drinking under the influence has never – and will never be – a good idea.

By now you would’ve figured that General Motors would go through great lengths to promote the mettle of the Chevrolet Volt. Having previously done a water trough test, GM decided that maybe the Volt should be subjected to yet another test, this time, of the scorching variety.

To ensure that any part of the Volt would not be subjected to warping or sagging when exposed into hot weather, GM turned up the knob on the old pressure cooker to see just how the Volt handles being in the figurative spotlight.

In this video, the Volt is being given a solar heat test, with temperatures reaching as high as 200 degrees Fahrenheit. If you don’t know your conversions, 200 degrees Fahrenheit is twice as hot as the boiling point so you can be rest assured that if there’s any part of the car that couldn’t stand the heat, this test would show it.

After a few botched practice sessions, the time finally came for Pastrana to do his New Year’s jump and as the video of the whole episode will show you, Pastrana surely kicked off 2010 off to a rousing start.

Traditionally, when two cars go on a race, the thinking is that both cars should be evenly matched. After all, when only two cars are involved, it doesn’t make sense to have one be superior to the other, otherwise, why do it in the first place.

Opel’s new promo video featuring the all new Insignia sees it go face-to-face with one of the brand’s most iconic rally cars, the Opel Ascona 400, the last rear-wheel drive rally car that won the WRC World Championship way back in 1982.

So ok, it’s not really a fair race considering that the Ascona is close to hitting 40 years old but it sure made for an entertaining watch as the historical rally car went up against the new Insignia – a car that comes with an optional Adaptive 4×4 system on the 220HP 2.0-liter version and a standard 4×4 system on the 2.8 V6 Turbo and OPC variants.

Manning the wheels of the Ascona 400 is rally legend Christian Geistdörfer while Sina Winkelhock, a budding racer in her own right, is behind the wheel of the Insignia in this race on ice. Like we said, there’s really no suspense as to what car will take the chequered flag, but if you want to see the slick manoeuvrability of the Insignia – even under less-than-ideal road conditions – then you should definitely give this video a look.

Mercedes Benz Formula One driver Nico Rosberg has the unique opportunity of presenting the German luxury automaker’s latest and greatest four wheeled machines. On the day that this video was shot, young Nico was in Dubai showing off the new E-Class Cabrio, and if you are already getting jealous then you might just want to look away now. That is because aside from unveiling the new drop top E-Class in Abu Dhabi, he took a trip over to Formula One’s latest street course, the Yas Marina Circuit in order to test out the new Mercedes SLS AMG. And they call that a job.

Just last week we brought you details about the Brabus tuned GLK V12 and its claim at being the fastest SUV in the world, well today we have the evidence to back it up. The German tuner started off by taking one of Mercedes Benz’s luxury rides and shoehorning one of their red and black specials known as the SV12 R Biturbo 750 power plant under the narrow confines of the GLK’s hood. The result is a compact crossover that makes 750 HP from a V12 being fed compressed air by a pair of snails sending 995 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. The complete package is good for a 0 to 60 MPH sprint time of only four seconds and a top speed of 211 MPH.

When we first saw Local Motors’ Rally Fighter at SEMA, we figured that it was a car that was versatile enough to do a boatload of things, one of which was its capability in roughing it up in Baja.

But we had no idea that the Rally Fighter would generate such a huge following that it seems fitting that there be a video of the car doing what a lot of people expect it to do: hit the off-road trails and run roughshod over it.

We figured we’d wait a while for such a thing to happen, but fortunately, Local Motors that such a long wait wouldn’t satisfy the Rally Fighter’s burgeoning fan base. So they released a video of the tuned and modified off-road vehicle romping it up off-road style to the tune of Hotel California – in Spanish.

It’s worth a watch, and we won’t even blame you if you end up watching it over and over again.

The Japanese automaker Lexus has just released a new video staring their latest object of desire, the LF-A doing what it does best on the race track. The super car’s 552 HP V10 power plant creates one unmistakable exhaust note and has been fine tuned to create an unmistakeable soundtrack that is all to reminiscent of a Grand Prix weekend. From a rumble at idle to a scream at the rev limiter, Toyota’s acoustic team studied the noise made by a Formula 1 car at maximum revs, then applied detailed design features to create an exhaust note for the LF-A that is unlike any other car on the road, enhancing the super car’s sensation of speed.

The 2012 BMW 3-Series is still a long ways away from seeing the production line but that doesn’t that mean it’s exempt from the curious sort’s prying eyes.

This latest spy video of the new 3-Series was captured after the car took a pit stop at a gas station somewhere in Europe. From what we gather, the 2012 3-Series – in all its swirly-camouflaged glory – was undergoing winter testing too see how the car reacts in sub-zero temperatures.

As you can imagine, the swirls didn’t do a whole lot in showing the aesthetic design of the new 3-Series and the white snowy background doesn’t help either but at least we finally have visual evidence that the new 3-Series is in fact, on its way.

In today’s day and age, car tuners have gone to great lengths to ensure that their creations are of top-notch quality. Rarely do you come across a car tuner that veers away from their mission of outfitting these vehicles with something thats nothing short of remarkable.
But then, there are days when you stumble upon something like this.
In a marketing campaign promoting a car game for Rexona Men in Brazil, Rexona did the ultimate job of fine-tuning their promo cars using cardboard. Say what?
The cardboard-tuned cars come fully equipped with ’fully-modded’ front and rear bumpers, as well as, a cardboard rear spoiler.
Now of course, this is just a campaign to drum up interest for their Rexona Men deodorant, which comes with an actual racing game that you can play on their website.

It’s pretty funny now, but just in case, let’s pray that this isn’t the start of a cardboard tuning revolution.

In an industry full of pretenders, one thing you can count on about Porsche is that they deliver.

The boys from Stuttgart’s latest offering is the new Porsche Boxster Spyder, arguably the lightest and fastest Boxster ever created. Powered by a modified 3.4-liter boxer engine, the new Boxster Spyder, which made its world debut at the LA Auto Show, produces over 320 horsepower and skyrocket from 0-60 mph in just a shade under five (4.8) seconds.

This new Boxster Spyder is the third incarnation of the Boxster Model following the previous Boxster and Boxster S line. Remember how everyone couldn’t wait to get their hands on one those Boxster models?

Well, judging from the awesome video highlighting Porsche’s new toy, we’re predicting that this one will have quite a following of its own.

As you may already know, the Lexus LF-A is Toyota’s all new purpose built super car with a planned production run of only 500 units, each priced at around $375,000. The LF-A is powered by a 4.8 liter V10 that delivers a maximum output of 560 HP at an astonishing 9,000 RPM and is able to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 202 MPH. Luckily enough the folks at Mobil 1 managed to snag one of the Japanese automaker’s representatives to do a brief walk around at this year’s SEMA Show. Although this is the same blonde guy who was telling us about the car’s front mount intercooler he did manage to do a decent job describing the LF-A, however if you want to see a bit more professional recanting then check out racing driver Justin Bell’s recap of the new super car from Jay Leno’s garage.

If you weren’t alive in 1979, then you probably have no idea who Vlada Vasiljevic is. But for those who know of this guy’s back-story, then you either consider him as crazed lunatic or a cult hero and nothing in between.

It’s also fitting that on the 30th anniversary of Vasiljevic’s exploits, a new film about the man people have come to know as ‘the Belgrade Phantom’ was recently premiered in Amsterdam.

Vasiljevic’s rise to fame – or infamy – started after he stole a white 1979 Porsche 911 and spent the next ten days running all over the streets of Serbia at a time when the country was still under communist rule.

After stealing the 911, Vasiljevic earned a lot of support from thousands of people for his buccaneering ways. Not content with the white 911 Targa he stole, Vasiljevic decided to steal more white Porsches and taunt the police over the radio as he did them. In the end, he was eventually arrested after a couple of people snitched on him, after which he was sentenced to five years in prison. Vlada Vasiljevic was killed during the 80s after crashing his car into a trailer. And no, he wasn’t riding a Porsche when he lost his life.

There’s no word yet as to when – or if – the Belgrade Phantom is going to be shown here in the US, but if you happen to be in Amsterdam, then you can check it out at the International Documentary Film Festival.

We’re pretty sure by now you know that August Horch was the one responsible for Audi. You didn’t? Well, he is (he was also a former engineer for Karl Benz – the other guy in the Mercedes-Benz – tie-up, but that’s not relevant to the topic at hand). As a matter of fact, if you translate ’Horch’ to Latin, you’d come up with – make a wild guess – Audi.

That being said, you can expect that the man whose name bears the brand would have a car named after him. And the company did just that with the Horch – a car that survived until 1953 when the last one was rolled out of Ingolstadt. In recent years, Audi has been in search to find the last Horch that was created in ’53. So they got Ralph Hornung, their resident vintage car locator, to find the missing car.

It’s a treasure hunt that would make even Indian Jones blush.

After months of searching, Hornung found his unicorn in West Texas. We’ve spoiled enough so we’re just going to let you watch the video to find out how Hornung ended up in the most unlikely of places and, more importantly, how the Horch found itself there in the first place.

The 2009 Nissan 370Z is the first full redesign of the iconic Nissan 350Z since its introduction in 2003. The new model builds on the strengths of its predecessor, with a brilliant balance of power, performance, handling and style. The engine was from Renault, the car was designed in America by an Indian! This is the Z’s Indian connection!

Now, Nissan has revealed complete pricing details for its new 370Z in order to help prospective customers to start arranging for finances.

The base model with, six-speed manual car will be sold at just $29,930 in the US(Rs.15Lakhs equivalent), but the seven-speed automatic will set you back $31,230.

The touring model will come for $34,460 with manual transmission, while the touring automatic should be $35,760.

The adrenalin rush will be brought by a seriously nasty Sport Package with 19-inch alloys and sticky Bridgestone Potenzas, meaty brakes and the all-important LSD out back is a mere $3,000, meaning you could have what it takes to duel with a Cayman for just $32,930.

Ford’s ’10 Unleashed campaign has given us some pretty good entertainment over the past couple of months. There was the touching story of a blind man getting his first taste of sitting behind the wheel of a 2010 Mustang, there was that owner who decided to turn his Mustang into a rally car, and of course, there was the four Need for Speed gamers who took their video game skills out on a real race track.

The latest instalment of the hit campaign sees the 2010 Mustang take on a group of professional skateboarders in a sort-of can-you-top-this competition.

Of course, we need to have a certain level of perspective as to how this challenge played out. After all, the 2010 Mustang had the decided advantage of computer-generated graphics on its side. So, in a nutshell, you can say that the competition wasn’t done on an even playing field – no pun intended.

At some point, our threshold for seeing exotic car crashes is going to be snapped. But until that time, we just have to stomach them and move on. The latest victim of the lethal mix of bad driving and bad weather is an Aston Martin DB9. In this video shot in Warsaw, Poland, the DB9 was speeding along a wet road when it loses control before slamming into a tree, breaking it in half in the process.

The DB9 then spins a couple of times before resting to a stop with the fallen tree just a few feet away from the car. Imagine what would have happened if the impact of the crash forced the DB9 to stop and the tree falling on top of it. Despite the damage done to his ride, the driver was enormously lucky not to have been crushed under a tree trunk.

Blackbird Guitars releases a Ferrari version of the Iconic Rider Carbon Fiber Travel Guitar

San Francisco – Inspired by the technology, style, and spirit of the famed Italian “supercar” manufacturer, Blackbird Guitars’ brings you the limited-edition Ferrari-branded “Rider”. The ultra-rare Ferrari Blackbird guitars were sold at Ferrari Stores worldwide and signed by F1 drivers Philipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. Based on Blackbird Guitars’ high-performance Rider travel guitar, it is the first instrument fit for the Ferrari namesake. Like Ferrari, it is a study in superlatives-among the most resonant, durable and lightest guitars in the world. The Rider travel guitar is compact enough to fit in the trunk of a sports car, but it plays and sounds like a much bigger instrument. It looks like nothing else on the market: sleek, black carbon fiber speaks to the high-tech materials and construction while the exclusive Maranello Red interior, accented red A string, and Ferrari Scuderia emblem highlights the passion of world-class Italian motoring.

Blackbird Guitars blends traditional guitar-making with design and construction inspired by Formula 1 race cars. The guitar features a one-piece, hollow neck, carbon fiber construction-and a unique sound port at the head directly influenced by F1 race car design. The high-performance Ferrari pedigree is more than just show-designer and Blackbird founder Joe Luttwak worked for the storied car manufacturer in Maranello, Italy. This experience laid the foundation for this thoroughbred of a guitar, inspired by Ferrari’s unque commitment to technology, style, and performance. “Great acoustic guitar construction, like great race car construction, benefits from stiff and ultra light materials. Using carbon fiber, like Ferrari’s Formula 1 race cars, for the guitar’s uni-body design produces an instrument that sounds better and is much more durable than any travel guitar available today. Many ideas for Blackbird Guitar’s models were inspired by my time at Ferrari, and it’s wonderful to make a model that honors their unparalleled technology, ingenuity and success.”

All Blackbird Rider models are built for the road with a virtually indestructible carbon-fiber body that is less than two-thirds the size of a standard acoustic, but has nearly an equivalent tone-so players no longer need to compromise tone for portability. Each Blackbird Rider is beautifully hand-crafted, with the carbon fiber expertly constructed to balance tone, weight and strength.

The first run of the exlusive Ferrari guitar series is now sold out, but Blackbird Guitars is accepting special, custom orders on the Rider model. Blackbird Guitars are made in San Francisco by a small team of luthiers by the Bay. The world’s best travel guitars, the Rider steel and Rider Nylon, now start at $1499. The Blackbird family also includes the larger Super OM. To learn more visit www.blackbirdguitars.com

Key Features of the Blackbird Rider: * Exceptional Carbon Fiber strength and environmental stability * Hollow neck with Stereo Sound Port® in head of the guitar * Asymmetric Acoustic Design® with off-set sound-hole * Ultralight for enhanced sound, comfort and balance * Full scale length (24.5″) * 3D sculpted back for improved ergonomics, playability & durability * Optional electronics for amazing amplified tone Filed under: Etc., Ferrari

Every Vote Counts: Finalists in Chevrolet Volt Color Contest Compete to be First to Test-Drive a Volt

Nearly 13,000 consumers submitted entries Every state represented with at least one name entry Consumers vote Nov. 16 through Dec. 1 to decide the winner Winning name will be announced Dec. 1 in Los Angeles

DETROIT – “Chargetruse,” “Recharge Silver,” and “Voltaic Platinum” are among the nearly 13,000 entries consumers submitted in Chevrolet Volt’s paint color name contest. Chevrolet has named three finalists whom will compete for a chance to be the first consumer to test-drive a pre-production Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle.

Chevrolet selected “EV-ergreen” offered by Devin McQuarrie, 30, of San Jose, CA; “Viridian Joule” submitted by Dave Thomas, 40, of Sanford, FL; and “environMINT” entered by Matthew Valbuena, 30, of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA. Chevrolet chose the three finalists based equally on originality, creativity and the ability to capture the innovation and spirit of the Volt.

Consumers now determine the winner by voting for the favorite name of the three at “http://www.chevroletvoltage.com” through 8 a.m. ET on Dec. 1. The finalists and a guest each will travel to Los Angeles where the winner will be announced by Chevrolet on Dec. 1. Votes are limited to one per person, per internet protocol address during the voting period.

About 27,000 people – or half of all visitors to “http://www.chevroletvoltage.com” during the entry period Oct. 22 through Nov. 4 – submitted a color name.

The Chevrolet Volt is an electric vehicle with extended-range capability. It can drive up to 40 miles on electricity without using gasoline or producing tailpipe emissions. When the Volt’s lithium-ion battery runs low, an engine/generator seamlessly operates to extend the total driving range to more than 300 miles before refueling or stopping to recharge the battery.

Production for the Volt is expected to begin in late 2010. Pricing has not been announced.
