The victorious 908 HDi FAP and its three drivers – Alexander Wurz, Marc Gené and David Brabham – embarked almost immediately on a ‘lap of honour’ tour which lasted from June until September before the car finally made its way back to the team’s Vélizy workshops. Since then, with its sights set firmly on 2010, the year of Peugeot’s 200th anniversary celebrations, Team Peugeot Total hasn’t taken its eye off the ball in the slightest.

“Our work initially focused on adapting the 908 HDi FAP to the 2010 regulations, which essentially meant the engine and bodywork,” explains Peugeot Sport’s Technical Director, Bruno Famin. “The only aerodynamic change is the result of having to adjust to this year’s new engine power levels. We have endeavoured to recover some of the power lost because of the rule changes, which involved working with Bosch on combustion, combating energy losses through friction with Total and enhancing the flow efficiency of the intake and exhaust systems in association with Dow. All the things that gave us trouble in 2009 have been looked at, too, while we haven’t eased up in our ongoing efforts to improve reliability. This is the 908 HDi FAP’s fourth and final year of competition. It is an outstanding car and I think we can look forward to an incredibly thrilling Le Mans 24 Hours; I believe it will be very close from flag to flag.”

Peugeot Hoggar is the first model to use a “combined” platform, based on the chassis of the Brazilian 207 and that of the Partner. This is the arrival of the “pick-up by Peugeot”, a model entirely designed, developed and manufactured in Brazil, intended for sale on the Brazilian market, which strengthens Peugeot’s image as national manufacturer. The Peugeot Hoggar will be launched in Brazil on 15th May 2010, in three equipment levels and two Flex Fuel engine options: 1.4 and 1.6.

The interior of the Peugeot Hoggar pick-up, the fourth member of the 207 range in Brazil, has the same contemporary design as the other models in the family. There is another advantage to the model’s design: the “combined” platform meant that the marque’s engineers, without compromising the cab’s spacious interior, could produce a load space with the largest capacity of its segment, i.e. 1,151 litres. With Pirelli Chrono 175 65 R14T tyres, they have endowed the Peugeot Hoggar with the biggest live load of all its competitors, 742 kg in the X-Line version (660 kg for the XR and 650 for the Escapade).

While it is the range entry model, the X-Line pick-up, with a working vocation, is equipped with the Flex 8V 1.4 (1,360 cc) engine, developing maximum power of 82 h.p. when operating on alcohol and 80 h.p. on petrol, at 5,250 rpm. It is economic, with maximum torque of 12.85 mkg at 3,250 rpm, whatever fuel is used.

The next level up from the X-Line, the intermediate XR version, also equipped with a Flex 1.4 engine, has an extra touch of sportiness, starting with the front headlights set in a black mask that accentuates the model’s feline look. The model boasts another equally modern aesthetic element. Two longitudinal bars of innovative design run around the cab. Designed to help when attaching loads, they also facilitate access to the cab, assisted by the side step. They support two dual position transverse bars that can hold certain items and can take a maximum weight of 70 kg.

The high-end version, the Escapade, is equipped with the Flex 1.6 (1,587 cc) engine which develops maximum power of 113 h.p. on alcohol and 110 h.p. on petrol at 5,600 rpm, with 15.5 mkg maximum torque at 4,000 rpm in alcohol mode.

As part of its new Marque project, Peugeot is launching the 5 By Peugeot concept. This modular technology incorporates HYbrid4 technology which will be launched as standard on the 3008 from 2011. With its dimensions, proportions and styling, the 5 By Peugeot concept is a response by the Marque to radical changes in the market for large, luxury saloons.

The design of the 5 By Peugeot concept has been guided by the ongoing research into perfectly balanced and streamlined body shapes. The contours of its three-compartment body is underlined by the streamlined sides which are enhanced by beveled, brushed-aluminum window surrounds, door handles in the same material, and sculpted 19” wheel trims. At the front, the “LED tubes” are highlighted by a luminescent surround. While at the rear, the lights are composed of three raised red clusters.

Designed by incorporating the HYbrid4 technology, A 2.0 l HDi FAP 120 kW (163 bhp) diesel engine of the 5 By Peugeot concept is mounted at the front of the vehicle and is combined with a 27 kW (37 bhp) electric motor at the rear. This provides the concept car with an overall maximum power of 147 kW (200 bhp). In addition, the 5 By Peugeot concept also benefits from an electric only mode at low speeds, four-wheel drive on demand, and low levels of fuel consumption and emissions (3.8 liters/100 km or 99 g/km of CO2, or 0 in electric mode).

Through the Peugeot SR1, the Marque reveals the stylistic design trends for its future models. The concept car embodies the new world of Peugeot, reflected by the new Lion badge which adorns it’s body.

Dynamic, balanced, sensual, with an exclusive high-tech interior, this “dream car” explores and reinterprets the theme of the “Grand Touring Car”. The use of HYbrid4 technology allows the Peugeot SR1 to offer an engineering specification in keeping with its styling: 230 kW (313 bhp) with emissions of only 119 g/km of CO2 (0 in electric mode), 4 wheel drive and steering…. for an ideal blend of excitement and efficiency.

Styling that predicts the future

Elegance, purity, dynamism, allure, controlled power… these ideas find their fullest expression with the Peugeot SR1, the dream car par excellence. More than ever, the aesthetic traits of this concept show the general design trends of the Marque’s future products, renewing Peugeot’s strong stylistic identity.

In short, this concept car creates a new design language.

218 hp 1.6 litre THP petrol engine 95 hp rear electric motor

The Peugeot SR1 is a vehicle with timeless, ideal proportions, revisiting the great traditions of grand touring cars of the past: a large bonnet, flowing wings and a very low centre of gravity. The design of the body gives the car a new balance: a sculpted bonnet, sweeping sides and a chiselled rear design. At the side the styling lines merge into the side windows and the front windscreen, emphasising the design of the bonnet.

This overall effect blends easily with the design detailing: the design of the lights and the air intakes, the shape of the door mirrors… these elements merge seamlessly with the vehicle’s carbon “skin”. In parallel, some features (“full LED” internal headlamp functions, radiator grille contour); stand out, as if suspended.

The hard top echoes the feel of this intense, high-tech assembly: It uses preformed profile technology derived from the world of sailing. It blends with the body, creating the illusion of a Coupé. The SR1, however, radiates the same visual strength, with or without the hard top. Finally, the SR1 displays the new Peugeot Lion badge. Redesigned, finely worked and sculpted, it mirrors perfectly the perception of the vehicle as a whole. Overall the Peugeot SR1 concept car gives the impression it has been carved from a solid block of material, monolithic, protective, sculptural and dynamic. At every moment it makes a great play on contrasts: purity and technological sophistication, authenticity and advanced technologies, expressiveness and understatement… making it a car that is quite simply… desirable!

A modern and exclusive 2+1 interior

The interior, too, promotes the idea of contrast. While the driver’s seat and all controls are dedicated to out-and-out enjoyment for the driver, the passenger compartment is designed to provide optimum versatility and new sensations for all its occupants. There is room in the vehicle for three people as the third rear seat nestles in the middle, behind the two front seats. Entry to this seat is facilitated by the centre console, which can slide forward to improve access.

The interior ambience blends colours and materials, with strong references to “a past motoring era” combined with “the latest advanced technology”. Inside the vehicle, patinated leather and different grained wood are examples of the use of authentic and natural materials, warm, sensual and charged with history, that blend seamlessly with, “high tech” materials such as nickel and satin-finished chrome.

The construction of the fascia panel, optimised to perfection, gives a visual prominence to certain mechanical components such as the steering column and a number of peripheral controls. Similarly, the instrumentation combines analogue and digital read-outs, giving clear emphasis to every item of information conveyed to the driver. This is the case for instantaneous fuel consumption and vehicle range, displayed on two glass crystal gauges directly in front of the driver.

Another technological innovation is the creation of an exclusive wristwatch, designed in partnership with Bell&Ross®. This timepiece, with milled inserts of solid aluminium, slots perfectly into a dedicated housing on the fascia panel. Every component and every detail has, therefore, benefited from meticulous attention, both in terms of design and manufacture, to guarantee perfection and an unrivalled refinement of perceived quality.

With a strong tradition of «vehicles for pleasure» and nearly 200 years of industrial adventure, Peugeot is today launching a «Limited Edition» of the RCZ, reserved for its first 200 European customers.

Much more than a dream which has become a reality, the RCZ has been designed as an exclusive «custom» vehicle aimed at particularly discerning and demanding buyers. The 200 examples of the «Limited Edition» version of Peugeot’s compact coupé can already be pre-ordered at the Frankfurt show or in the network; contact is also possible on Peugeot’s Internet site.

An edition numbered from 1 to 200 with a specific and top of the range product content

Equipped with a 1.6-litre THP 115 kW (156 bhp) petrol engine coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, this numbered edition of the RCZ gives a first glimpse of the new pearlescent white paintwork.

This livery provides a sharp contrast with the roof, covered with real carbon, as are the mirror shells that coordinate with the gloss black of the bumper grille and the brake calipers, the smoked chrome of the wheel arches and the matte black of the 19’’ wheels. The interior is finished with top of the range Nappa black leather upholstery.

Finally, the «Limited Edition» RCZ comes very well equipped with equipment such as the WIP COM 3D (and the Peugeot Emergency service), the Vision Pack (directional bi-Xenon headlamps, headlamp wash, etc.), the Nappa Leather Pack (heated electric leather seats, over-mats, etc.), the Easy Motion Pack (front and rear parking assistance, etc.), the alarm, etc. The «Limited Edition» RCZ is available in France at a price of 35,500 euros and will be delivered in spring 2010, when the new car is launched.

A snippet of history

Two hundred examples of this limited edition will be produced. This is a reference to Peugeot’s 200-year industrial history, which will be celebrated in 2010.

With its BB1 concept car, Peugeot has fearlessly pushed back the conventions and boundaries of automobile manufacturing to bring a totally original response to the current and future needs of urban mobility. Capable of seating four people in a vehicle just 2.5 metres long, the BB1 concept car is a full electric vehicle that reinvents the automobile in every way: architecture, style, interior design, drive, connectivity – while all the time respecting the environment.
At the forefront are the values of liberty, optimism – even “altruism”. The BB1 concept car is the promise of a new driving experience.

The world is always on the move. Urban traffi c is ever increasing. Everyone wants to save time and the environment is a bigger priority than it ever has been before. Designers
are seeking ever more ingenious ways to visualise a plethora of solutions for the future.

To meet all these needs, Peugeot has developed an amazing mobility offer. Depending on age and their current needs, everyone can fi nd a suitable solution in Peugeot’s lion-branded range of bikes, motorbikes and automobiles.

Peugeot are constantly studying and sharing mobility solutions, bringing together various internal companies to pool their expertise and their creativity to give rise to particularly original projects. Indeed, Peugeot has always sought to be a global, durable provider of mobility, with an inventive, responsible and competitive range of vehicles, whether they are on two, three or four wheels.

The BB1 concept car, unveiled at the 63rd Frankfurt Motor Show, paves the way for this ideal by pushing back the barriers to bring a renewed driveability, expressiveness and allure… This electric vehicle aims to explore new grounds with regards to urban mobility.

The BB1 brief was to tackle all issues of the modern world faced by people on a daily basis in order to offer maximum versatility, a compact size; be dynamic and manoeuvrable (3.5m turning circle).

To achieve all this, the Peugeot teams faced a real challenge – never before seen in the history of the automobile: accommodating four people in a car 2.5m long. This record use of interior space could potentially lead to a larger load capacity, even though its “compact” size gives it the ability to park in extremely tight spots – even perpendicular
to the pavement.

To meet this challenge, the structure of the passenger compartment has drawn inspiration from two-wheeled vehicles in terms of ergonomics: the driver controls the vehicle by adopting a new driving position – more vertical than is usual. This is mainly made possible through the absence of fl oor pedals. The rear passenger is seated in tandem behind the driver. On the right-hand side, front and rear passengers adopt the same position. It is thanks to this original confi guration for a four-wheel vehicle that the BB1 has such a totally original design.

Access to the vehicle is through the inverted door opening mechanism, while boot access is through a tail board and a tailgate. The interior can be transformed as required to offer a load volume of 160 litres (with four occupants), rising to 855 litres (with just one person in the car).

The style of the vehicle highlights the interior space and the driving ergonomics. With its sweeping styling lines at the front, large glazed area, low doors (for the passenger
compartment ventilation system) and very clear wheel arch space. The car also represents a break with the past through its exterior styling in relation to the automobiles we have seen to date.

Robust and protective, the quality and technology shine through in every detail, such as the “full LED” front headlights and rear view cameras. The double bubble roof, as in the RCZ, helps with the rear space of the vehicle.

User-friendly connectivity

As well as the openness and brightness brought by the large windows, the BB1 presents an extensive set of interactive technologies. The colour display and the vehicle’s audio system provide an ideal setting for your “smartphone” functionalities: telephone, navigation, Internet access, radio, MP3… Just connect your device to the USB jack, or the 12V socket if necessary. Universal and user-friendly, this system enables the BB1 to concentrate on essential services without multiple pieces of equipment, bringing extra safety to driving and saving considerable weight.

Similarly, the rear-view cameras remove the need for mirrors, optimising the width of the vehicle and improving its aerodynamics, while adding to the high-tech aspect of the interior.

Two original creative images have been produced for the BB1 concept by the artist Michel Serviteur. Portrayed around the driving position, they offer a new link with time and speed. A clock brings the interior to life by linking a colour to each period of the day; time goes by to the rhythm of the light to enhance the feeling of wellbeing. In addition, there is a graphic animation which could replace the speedometer, finding its equilibrium at a steady speed but which moves again when that speed is interrupted.

…WITH A NEW ELECTRIC MOTOR

Creative – the BB1 leads the way with its electric drive system. It is fi tted with electric motors in the rear wheels, designed in association with Michelin. This original set-up maximises the interior space. It draws its inspiration from the world of the quad bike, with a maximum power output of 15 kW (20hp) – or 7.5 kW per motor. This provides the optimum power to weight ratio for the vehicle in its urban driving setting. Its characteristics give it the best possible response at start-up (0 to 30 kph in 2.8 seconds) and excellent in-gear acceleration (30-60 kph in 4 seconds), ensuring the driving enjoyment and safety that are the hallmark of Peugeot.

The lithium-ion batteries provide immediate power. They have a comfortable range of 120 km. Each of the two battery packs supplying energy to the two respective electric motors are fitted under the right and left rear seats, thereby avoiding any reduction in the interior space and the storage space. Furthermore, this location between the two front and rear wheels helps with the centring of the vehicle weight and benefits vehicle stability, especially during braking.

…WITH AN INNOVATIVE, LIGHTER STRUCTURE

Peugeot engineers have completely reinvented the way to design a vehicle. The BB1 is therefore based on a tubular chassis designed by Peugeot Motorcycles. It includes all normal vehicle dynamic systems: electric power steering, suspension (double-wishbone front and rear suspension), friction damper spring assemblies – granting the vehicle a level of road-holding to match the vehicle’s performance, its urban nature and driveability and safety levels worthy of the Peugeot Marque.

The body is made up of a very light carbon structure, designed to wrap around the passenger compartment, all of which enables potential future customisation and a possibility of a variety of vehicle shapes… Finally, the vehicle weight does not exceed 600 kg, including the batteries, enabling all its mechanical parts to be placed in their ideal position, ensuring optimal weight distribution.

Peugeot, the pioneer and 1st worldwide manufacturer of electric vehicles will be launching the ion at the end of 2010. Its performance and 130 km operating range is obtained in particular due to the use of lithium-ion batteries, which will provide an efficient response to the challenges of urban mobility and respect for the environment.

With the ion, which will be presented to the world for the 1st time at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Peugeot is incorporating the latest automotive edition into its model range.

With the 106 produced between 1995 and 2003, Peugeot, the pioneer in electric vehicles, remains to this day the manufacturer having sold the most “zero-emissions” cars in the world.

Supported by this history, the Lion Brand intends to continue as a major player in the new market of electric vehicles. Therefore, from the end of 2010, Peugeot will be amongst the first to launch a new all-electric vehicle in Europe: the iOn.

From launch, this electric vehicle developed in cooperation with Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC), is aimed at both retail and fleet customers (authorities, local organisations and large companies, etc.) due its specifications which are particularly suited for use in an urban environment. Lithium-ion batteries rechargeable in six hours and 80% recharged within thirty minutes.

The town will therefore be the favourite playground of the iOn. With four doors and four seats, a length of 3.48 m and a turning circle of 4.50 m, this all-electric Peugeot vehicle will develop a maximum power output of 47 kW (64 bhp) and a torque of 180 Nm, thus offering reliable levels of performance (maximum speed of 130 km/h). Equipped with a totally comfortable operating range (130 km standard European cycle), the lithium-ion car batteries are rechargeable in six hours using a conventional 220 V socket or recharged to 80% capacity within thirty minutes, thanks to its fast charging system.

These specifications allow this “zero-emission” city car to offer a good level of versatility, comparable in performance and comfort to a small conventional combustion engine vehicle.

Its respect for the environment par excellence, its compact size, safety and simple operation will be its best, but by no means only attributes. In fact, onboard it will also include some innovative services, thanks in particular to the “localised communication unit”. This unit not only authorises the emergency call system for which Peugeot is a leader in terms of deployment throughout Europe (location of vehicles at the time of an accident and triggering the dispatch of suitable emergency services) but also authorises data transfer (battery status, distance covered, distance to travel before maintenance is due, etc.) thus providing assistance in the business management of fleet vehicles.

A further illustration of the brand’s environmental strategy Ion illustrates Peugeot’s commitment to integrate the new automotive edition by offering lots of solutions suited to the different needs of urban mobility.

This car also represents one of the key factors of the Brand’s strategy to reduce the environmental footprint and dependence on fossil fuels. As such, from the end of 2010 onwards, customers will discover some additional solutions within the model range:

the iOn coming at the end of 2010, is an all-electric vehicle for everyday urban use.

The 3008 HYbrid4, arriving in spring 2011, will be equipped with technology offering a versatile range of use (147 kW / 200 bhp, 4-wheel drive, etc, with CO2 emissions reduced to 99g/km).

These products will complete a range of combustion engines with some even higher performance engine units in both diesel HDi FAP and petrol variants (VTi and THP technology); engines which are already particularly well placed in their respective segments: 107 with 106 g/km of CO2, 207 with 99g, 308 with 120g, 3008 with 130g and 407 with 129g .

A stylish design combining driving exhilaration has long been a key attribute of Peugeot vehicles, and with cars like the 407 Coupé, utilises the company’s expertise to the full. Launched in 2005, the 407 Coupé is the latest in a long tradition of prestige Coupés produced by Peugeot, where style plays a key role, combining stature and refi nement to create a product capable of long-distance touring with comfort and high performance developments. This stature is expressed initially through the coupé’s suspension dynamics, with dual wishbones and a drop link at the front and multi-arm rear suspension; the 407 Coupé produces superb road holding, is acknowledged for its grip, progressive control, dynamism and ride comfort.

Stature is also appropriate in terms of the choice of high-performance engines, including a new V6 HDi PEF version at the top of the diesel range that is powerful, fl exible and economical. In keeping with today’s demands, the 407 Coupé features a range of engine and transmission choices that ensure that ‘‘driver involvement’’ is aligned more closely with “environmental responsibilities”.

The new V6 HDi PEF 3.0-litre engine, coupled with a 6-speed sequential automatic gearbox, develops a maximum power output of 177 kW (241 bhp) at 3,800 rpm supplemented by maximum torque of 450 Nm from 1,600 rpm – a value which remains unchanged up to 3,600 rpm.
With this engine, the 407 Coupé becomes the most powerful production vehicle ever constructed by Peugeot in its 120 years history as a car manufacturer.

The level of performance it produces (80 to 120 kph in 4.7 seconds; 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 7.7 seconds…) is matched by good fuel economy, in comparison to competitors. Compared
to the 2.7-litre V6 HDi it replaces, the 3.0-litre reduces fuel consumption by more than 15% (while power is increased by 18%), and a combined cycle rate of 7.2 litres/100 km
(39.2 MPG) or 189 g/km of CO2 (instead of the 225 g/km previously).

Equipped with the particle emissions fi lter (PEF) and compliant to Euro 5 standards, this supreme engine technology demonstrates that driving pleasure does not have to come at the expense of compromising fuel consumption and emissions.

The 3.0-litre HDi V6 is distinguished on the outside by two oval exhaust pipes, arranged symmetrically on either side of the rear bumper diffuser.
The new 2.0-litre HDi PEF 120 kW (163 bhp) at 3,750 rpm is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox. With this power and a maximum torque of 340 Nm (constant between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm), this 4 cylinder engine is the perfect counterpart to the V6 HDi PEF and brings genuine appeal for its combined attributes in terms of purchase price, running costs and a top-of-the-range specifi cation. This new engine, which has 20 % more power than the previous 2.0-litre HDi, in the 407 Coupé is particularly environmentally-friendly in its category with a fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/100 km (52.3 MPG), with 140 g/km of CO2 in the Combined Cycle (a reduction of 8.5 %).

Benefi ting from the arrival of these new engines, the elegant and refi ned style of the 407 Coupé is subtly enhanced by chrome trim spanning the entire upper section of the side windows. Another development is the door mirrors which are now larger to offer better rear vision, conforming to new legislative standards.

Finally, the Coupé’s WIP Com and WIP Nav telematics (accessible satellite navigation and Bluetooth™ hands-free kit) and the all new WIP Bluetooth™ (option coupled with WIP Sound

radio featuring USB connector and hands-free kit) equipment are now available. In France, the 407 Coupé 407 2.0 litre HDi PEF 120 kW (163 bhp) is available in two levels of finish (Sport and Féline) and a special series (with Navteq). It is available from 33,350 euros. The V6 HDi PEF is available from September with an exclusive ‘‘GT’’ model, priced at 48,200 euros, and includes 19’’ wheels as standard.
—-

Design

Thanks to its delicately sculpted architecture, this new body radiates balance, elegance and dynamism. Its feline appearance begins with the steeply inclined front windscreen, creating a low roof line which then flows back into the boot, with its integral dynamic spoiler. At the rear, the lower panel with its dynamic lines creates an unmistakeable visual impact, giving the impression that the 407 Coupé is about to pounce, even when at a standstill.

The emotion aroused by this aesthetic effect is strengthened by the “look” of the car, the taut design of the flanks, and the aerodynamic front design. The affect also portrays a passenger compartment, which appears compact from the outside but is extremely generous inside. The complex shape of the Coupé accentuates the stylistic traits introduced on the 407 range and emphasises the harmonious balance between dynamism and refinement.

Inside, the Coupé continues the driving pleasure expressed by its bodywork. Its luxurious interior makes reference to the great tradition of GT touring cars, with its four “separate” seats, its instrument panel, real aluminium trim detail and leather upholstery.
The fascia panel is different from the saloon, particularly on “integral leather” versions where the fascia panel and seats are enhanced by saddle-stitched leather upholstery. Matching the bucket style seats, brushed aluminium inserts decorate the fascia panel and door panels give the interior ambience a strong dynamic feel. This dynamism is enhanced further by the instrument panel, featuring five dials with chrome surrounds, needles with an aluminium finish and chronograph style graduations that call to mind the sophisticated technology of watch making. The three-spoke steering wheel features perforated leather on the side sections, while the thumb rests have a smooth leather finish. A brushed chrome insert on the third spoke of the steering wheel echoes the theme of the aluminium inserts in the passenger compartment.

Regardless of the engine chosen, the Coupé customer will have the choice of three levels of finish, Sport, Sport Pack and Griffe, with specific equipment levels and trims that place this Coupé firmly in the refined world of touring cars.

The model was created to celebrate the success at the 25 hours Le Mans race. But even if at a first looks the new model looks bad, it is just an old 107: a model powered by a 1,0 liter engine that delivers the same 68 hp.

So Peugeot when can we expect a Peugeot 205 GTi reincarnation?

With its three body shapes, each bursting with appeal, the 207 moved into the pole position in the European small car market in 2007 and then remained there in 2008 with sales of 423,700 units.

However, in the summer of this year, the 207 will become even more visually appealing due to the introduction of a number of new features, allowing it to:

win new admirers with a more distinctive elegance but still maintaining a personality full of dynamism;

attract previous and existing owners (1,460,000 207s were produced to the end of April 2009) who, once or even twice before, will have approved of its innovative profi le and

original styling which are well above average for the segment.

In day-to-day use to continue to win the hearts of its customers through its charm, its blend of comfort and driveability, its low running costs and high levels of standard equipment. With the new 207, Peugeot, the European leader in the B2 segment in 2008, once again demonstrates its small car expertise. By the end of the fi rst half of 2009 Peugeot will have completely modernised all its vehicles in this segment.

The 107, the ideal urban car in the B1 segment, compact and easy to drive, was given a new design at the front in January 2009 that added a touch of class to its young and trendy image. In March 2009, the 206+ was introduced to continue the 206 legend with a new goal: that of a versatile entry level vehicle in the B2 segment with proven qualities and a refreshingly modern design featuring all the current Peugeot styling cues.

Finally in July, the 207, the “star of the small car market” will fi nally see its appeal enhanced in three key ways.

HIGH-LEVEL VISUAL APPEAL

Exterior Styling Changes:

a redesigned front combining natural dynamism with a softer visual look;

more body coloured surfaces and chrome detailing;

spectacular new rear lights using panels of luminescent diodes (hatchback and CC).

A more luxurious passenger compartment with:

new trims and detailing placing emphasis on perceived quality, comfort and dynamism;

new instrument panel designs with a more modern look and visual appeal.

AN EVEN GREATER COMMITMENT TO REDUCING FUEL CONSUMPTION AND PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT:

thanks to particularly fuel effi cient engines with reduced greenhouse gas emissions;

through the optimisation of the rolling resistance of the tyres to reduce fuel consumption;

through “very low fuel consumption” optimised not only aerodynamically

(exceptional Cx of only 0.274), but also by operation of the engine itself and

rolling resistance, allowing CO2 emissions to be reduced to 99 g/km;

through the gradual deployment of engines meeting the Euro5 emission standard;

through the introduction of a gear change indicator on manual gearbox engines

With the 5008, Peugeot has created a new interpretation of the compact people carrier. This new model combines all the manufacturer’s key values but also builds further on the benefits expected by customers in this segment without any adverse effect on the vehicle’s road holding. The 5008 also introduces a range of cutting edge technologies to further enhance comfort, convenience and driving safety. As a result, the 5008 aims to set new benchmarks in the market for compact people carriers.

Peugeot expands its market coverage in the M1 segment

The 5008, after the 3008 crossover, is Peugeot’s second new product offering in the large M1 vehicle segment. This compact five to seven seater people carrier offers a number of significant benefits that will enhance and strengthen Peugeot’s presence in the family car market. After the 308 SW and the recent 3008 crossover, the 5008, with a length of 4.53 m and a height of 1.64 m, is a natural extension to Peugeot’s current offerings in the M1 segment.

An aerodynamic and elegantly styled people carrier

In terms of exterior style, the 5008 stands out with its balanced and particularly distinctive profile. Its aerodynamic styling (Cx of 0.29 and Scx of 0.77) is akin to that of the TGV high-speed train. It evokes fluidity and driveability of the very highest order.
The front of the car with its attractive profiled headlamps, steeply plunging bonnet which extends backwards towards the large front windscreen which is level with the front wheels, seems to be designed to penetrate through the air in the most efficient way.

The natural fluidity emanating from the 5008 is further enhanced by the chrome detailing decorating the front grille that gives the car an elegant and luxurious appeal. The design of the vehicle’s sides both pure and smooth, create an impression of movement, while the high waist line inspires safety.

The large glazed surface area seems to encircle the entire car without any interruption, a feature due in particular to the specific design of the large rear quarter panel windows which blend into the rear tailgate glass. This provides a bright and pleasant passenger compartment ambience for the benefit of all the occupants, not least the rear passengers who also receive the full benefit of the extra light provided by the large panoramic glass roof.

The vehicle’s profile reveals an elegant styling line which starts at the level of the rear door, becomes more accentuated on the wing and then passes around to the rear of the 5008. This feature adds a further touch of dynamism to the side profile and gives character to the design of the tailgate of the 5008.

The stylish design of the rear lights and their light-guide technology, give the car its visual signature. The impression created by the car’s rear aspect is one of purity, robustness and status. The design of the tailgate hints at easy access to the boot, an essential quality for a family car.

This new style is based on an original interpretation of a compact people carrier, where a dynamic exterior styling combines harmoniously with a large interior capacity.

—-

A luxurious interior designed for driving pleasure

The driver’s seat of the 5008 is undeniably original and innovative in the world of the people carrier. The raised driving position typical of this segment gives the driver excellent visibility and a real feeling of safety.

The designers of the car have succeeded in enhancing the ergonomics of the driving position, thanks firstly to the quality of the seats, and secondly to the steep vertical angle of inclination of the steering wheel, identical to that of the 308 hatchback. The driving position therefore provides the driver with good control and comfort, while at the same time retaining a raised position
and the sense of dominating the road.

Equipped with a number of avant-garde technologies such as a head-up display, and featuring high-quality, luxurious materials, the design of the driver’s seat supports the theme of innovative and driving pleasure present in every detail of the 5008.

Focused around the needs of the driver, the instrument panel is further extended by the design of the elegant centre console with its flowing design. The inclined front of the fascia panel is designed to be in harmony with that of the dynamic exterior profile, creating an impressive feeling of overall space.

The advanced ergonomics of the controls, all easily accessible, link the 5008 to the range of Peugeot’s range of current passenger vehicles.

A bright and very spacious interior

The area of the wide front windscreen (1.70 m2) is increased even further by the large panoramic glass roof (1.69 m2), one of the largest in the Peugeot range. As a result, passengers benefit from a bright interior and an exceptional panoramic view of the outside. Adding the side windows, the rear quarter panel windows and the rear windscreen, the glazed surface area totals 5.77 m2.

Spacious is certainly no understatement when it comes to describing the interior of the 5008. For example, elbow width is 1476 mm at the front and 1520 mm in the second row, with its three individual seats of equal width. In the third row, where two adult passengers can be seated, this value is 1341 mm.

Leg room is just as generous, as is headroom, which means that tall passengers can be accommodated without difficulty.

For passengers wishing to optimise their seating position, the three seats in the second row are equipped with two seat back tilting positions and can slide individually over a length of 130 mm. With regards to modularity, this makes it possible to increase the capacity of the rear load area or provide slightly more space for the third row occupants.

—-

Exemplary modularity

The modularity of the 5008 is of the highest order within its segment. The second row comprises three seats of equal width, which can be adjusted lengthwise and feature reclining seat backs for optimal comfort. They can also be folded individually into the passenger compartment floor to form a perfectly flat surface perfectly aligned with the rear loading sill. Bearing in mind that the front passenger seat can also be folded flat into a “shelf configuration”, it is therefore possible to load long objects as far as the fascia panel. The effective load length in this configuration (all seats folded away and the front passenger seat folded flat in the shelf position) is 2.76 m.

The ‘cinema’ positioning of the second row outer seats allows easy access to the occupants of the third row seats. In one easy movement, the seat cushion lifts and the seat back moves forward, freeing up the maximum space for those wishing to get into the car.

This advanced modularity is also in evidence in the third row, where the two full size seats fold individually into the rear floor.

The interior of the 5008 therefore offers multiple possibilities in terms of layout, enabling it to meet the needs of all occupants in real style.

A large boot volume

The boot of the 5008 is very practical and easy to use thanks to its rectangular shape. Depending on the position of the sliding rear seats, it offers a generous capacity, ranging from 758 litres to 823 litres (or 579 to 678 dm3 according to the VDA 210 standard) under the parcel shelf with the third row seats folded away. The boot of the 5008 offers one of the best load volumes in the segment.

This capacity increases to 1247 litres when the rear parcel shelf is removed and the vehicle is loaded to the roof and can further increase to 2506 litres with the second row seats folded away as well.

For families who are always in search of extra space, particularly when going off on holiday, the numerous storage spaces on both sides of the passenger compartment can easily accommodate the different requirements of its passengers. At the front, particularly large door pockets supplement the space provided by the glove box, the storage area under the steering wheel, and the ingenious design of the ‘ventilated’ centre console with a capacity of 10.5 litres. Inside the latter it is possible to store all kinds of objects, in particular two half-litre bottles. Depending on the car’s standard equipment levels, within the storage area an auxiliary connector (jack or USB), allows the connection and storage of a mobile music player well out of the sight of prying eyes.

At the rear, passengers can use the storage areas in the floor as well as the rear door pockets, all of which are very accessible.

Other storage spaces for sundry items are also available throughout the passenger compartment for the use of the driver and passengers, including those in the third row.

Finally, 60 litres of storage space is available in the five seat version under the rear load area carpet, confirmation that every space has been exploited to the full to offer superb practicality in day to day use.

Comfort in all seats

Its vast interior, roomy and modular, is also particularly comfortable.

All passengers will appreciate the comfort provided by all of the seats. For example, particular attention has been paid to the third row occupants of to ensure that they can enjoy a level of comfort, safety and space comparable to that of the other seats. For example, special storage spaces have been installed, while the large rear quarter panel windows can be equipped with retractable sun blinds (as in the second row). Occupants are also protected by the curtain air bag which extends rearwards as far as the third row. Finally, the vehicle’s low exterior noise levels enable the occupants in the third row to converse easily with the front passengers without having to raise their voice.

Because their seats are not directly in line with those in the front the third row occupants also benefit from an unrestricted forward vision, further confirmation that these are real seats and not additional seats for occasional use only.

Occupying a half-way house between the world of the scooter and the car, the HYmotion3 compressor is a highly original proposal designed to facilitate urban mobility. Attractive thanks to its dynamic, streamlined and futuristic style; it is an interesting concept combining numerous benefits (size, safety and comfort) with “HYmotion” hybrid/petrol technology. This new generation technology creates a three wheel drive vehicle, benefiting safety and driveability and combining economy with an environmentally-friendly specification (CO2 emissions of only 47 g/km in the combined cycle, zero in electric only mode).

The HYmotion3 compressor concept is a means of transport with no affiliation to a particular type of vehicle. With its three wheels and its streamlined body, it is something of a missing link between two worlds which to date are quite distinct: that of the scooter and that of the car. With an electric motor in each of its two front wheels, coupled at the rear with a petrol engine, it brings into play very innovative hybrid technologies allowing each of its wheels to provide motive power.

In a world of intensifying urban traffic where everyone is trying to save time, where oil prices are skyrocketing and the environment is more than ever a priority, design departments are vying in ingenuity to develop solutions for the future.

Giving full rein to their creativity and expertise, two separate Peugeot teams converged on a similar idea and finally worked in tandem to develop a particularly original project: the HYmotion3 compressor.

This “concept car”, or rather “concept scooter”, is based on the extensive experience of Peugeot Motorcycles, specialists in the scooter field, as well as the creativity and innovative capabilities of stylists and engineers working for Automobiles Peugeot.

To create this concept, Peugeot was able to draw on its extensive experience in the world of transportation enabling each individual, according to their age or their needs, to choose from among the Marque’s cycles, motorcycles and cars.

This vehicle offers an ideal mix of the benefits of a scooter and particular characteristics of a car.

Its design is based on three wheels for maximum stability, safety and driveability. Its width of 82 cm enables it to thread a path through urban traffic with all the efficiency of a two-wheeler. The front windscreen extends to the rear of the vehicle to form a highly effective shield against bad weather for the rider and passenger.

In addition, regulations in France allow the vehicle to be driven with a B licence only, giving it a wide range of potential customers.

Finally, this vehicle incorporates HYmotion technology, also featured on other concept-cars in the Peugeot exhibition space at the Paris Motor Show. This new generation hybrid technology incorporates the supercharged petrol engine already featured in the Peugeot Satelis scooter. With a power of 15 kW (20 bhp) driving the rear wheel, it is combined with two electric motors, each with an output of 3 kW, located in the front wheels.

This configuration develops a maximum power of 21 kW (29 bhp) for a particularly low fuel consumption of 2.0 litres/100 km and CO2 emissions of 47 g/km in the combined cycle, or 0 in electric only mode. The design of the HYmotion3 compressor, with its three wheel drive, provides positive
benefits for both safety and drivability.

Peugeot Sport will profit from the final round of the 2008 Le Mans Series at Silverstone to unveil a 908 HDi FAP equipped with hybrid power featuring a kinetic energy recovery system. The 908 HY will be shown in a new, specific silver-grey livery and will provide a foretaste of what Peugeot’s next endurance racing challenger could resemble, although its use will depend on the regulations that will govern LMP1 cars from 2009.

HY technology enables a proportion of the kinetic energy produced under braking to be either recovered or stored. In the case of a non-hybrid car, this energy is dissipated in the form of heat via the brakes. However, when harnessed, it enables the vehicle’s efficiency to be improved in one of two ways:

enhanced performance with no increase in the amount of energy consumed thanks to the combination of the stored mechanical energy and the energy produced by the internal combustion engine.
reduced fuel consumption for the same level of performance thanks to the availability of stored mechanical energy.

The system featured on this demonstrator comprises three key elements:

1) a 60kW gear-driven electric motor-generator which takes the place of the conventional starter motor,
2) batteries which permit recovered energy to be stored in 600 lithium-ion cells divided into 10 battery packs (six in the cockpit instead of the conventional battery and four on the left-hand side of the flat bottom).
3) an electronic power converter (located in the rear part of the front left wing) which controls the flow of energy between the batteries and the motor-generator.

The 908 HY can be powered in one of three ways:

electric mode only (e.g. in the pit-lane),

internal combustion engine only,

a combination of the two.

In the course of a lap of Le Mans, for example, the system will recuperate energy for between 20 and 30 seconds. This energy can be used:

1) either to deliver extra power thanks to an additional boost of 60kW (80hp) for approximately 20 seconds per lap, either automatically when re-accelerating, or when the driver chooses to make use of it (’push to pass’).
2) or to reduce fuel consumption for the equivalent level of performance thanks to the mechanical energy recovered (between three and five per cent).

Michel Barge (Peugeot Sport, Director): “This hybrid 908 HDi FAP is in perfect keeping with the overall mission of our endurance racing programme which covers not only the challenge of competing, of course, but also the fact that as a car manufacturer we can use motor sport as a research and development tool for the Peugeot brand as a whole. After innovating
through the use of our HDi FAP technology in competition, running a hybrid car in endurance racing would give Peugeot a chance to gain extremely valuable experience that would benefit the development of production cars. Whether we use this technology or not in 2009 will obviously depend on the details of the new regulations published by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest.”

Peugeot uses the designation “RC” to show where it will be taking its designers in the future. This latest car is certainly falls under this catagory considering the actual name is “RC…” Just like the Peugeot RC concept cars of 2002 and the 908 RC of two years ago, this RC is the future of Peugeot. Although darkness distorts these pictures, the car’s long hood and sloping roofline are still clearly visible.

Powered by a 313 hp gas/electric hybrid engine delivering CO2 emissions of 109 g/km in the combined cycle or ZERO in electric mode. According to Peugeot, “the RC… is an accessible and versatile car, with four doors, four seats and a highly innovative hybrid architecture”.

It believes the eco-efficient RC… is a car that combines the combining respect for the environment with driving pleasure.

We expect more details about the car to be coming soon before the official viewing at the Paris Auto Show in October.

As the pioneer of “folding roof cars” with its elegant 401, 601 and 402 “Eclipse” models from the 1930s, Peugeot has never lost its desire to give motorists the freedom to drive in either the coupé or cabriolet configuration through the “magic” of a rigid roof that folds into the boot.
It’s now almost a decade ago, at the Geneva Motor Show in 1998, that this innovative motoring concept was launched in the form of the 207 concept car.
This concept soon evolved into the 206 CC and the 307 CC, popularising a concept which was considered, until then, only for the elite. The heirs to these successful first generation vehicles have already taken to the road in the form of the 207 CC and the soon-to-be launched 308 CC…
By the end of May 2008, Peugeot had produced nearly 632,000 coupé-cabriolets for enthusiasts of this “lifestyle” motoring concept, making Peugeot the world leader in this body style:

457,500 Peugeot 206 CCs and 207 CCs with their 2 + 2 architecture in the small car segment (B)
174,500 Peugeot 307 CCs with four full size seats in the medium car segment (M1)

Since the launch of the 307 CC in 2003, the structure of the lifestyle market has undergone a number of profound changes. Recently, cabriolets with a retractable rigid roof have become more popular than vehicles with a more vulnerable “soft top”.
For the majority of customers, the 307 CC was the household’s main car. It was chosen for the intelligence of its design and for its elegance but was also greatly appreciated in daily use for its comfort, specification and ride quality.

The 308 has already taken the place of the 307 in its hatchback and its SW versions, offering all the benefits of its successful forerunner while, at the same time, imposing its new identity, modern feel and strong personality.
In the same vein, the 308 CC with its four full size seats capitalises on the genetic codes of the 308, embodying the “307 CC spirit” and Peugeot’s coupé-cabriolet expertise.

Above all it promises enthusiasts of “lifestyle” motoring a unique and genuinely attractive offer.

An attractive design…

The 308 CC stands out by the superb fluidity of its style, both in its coupé and cabriolet configurations. From the badge to the end of the roof, from the door to the lower rear panel, the graphic style of its profile is emphasised by light reflecting contours. Chrome detailing further enhances this elegant profile.

Low slung and firmly planted on its wheels, the 308 CC has a prominent shape and spectacular LED rear lights that use “red light curtain” technology to create a unique signature for the car by day and by night.

The passenger compartment has an undeniable personality. Particularly striking in the “cabriolet” version, it has a different feel from the hatchback and creates the impression of a grand touring car. The sculpted front seats with their integral head restraints have inbuilt air vents which diffuse warm air around the occupants neck. The rear seats mirror this distinctive design and offer rear accommodation surprisingly generous for a cabriolet.

The door panels also have an exclusive design, incorporating an elegant yet dynamic and robust metallic inner door handle. The sporty steering wheel, the special finish of the instrument panel and the “black lacquer” centre console complete this theme.

In terms of the “sporty” “haute couture” feel of the car, the 308 CC is clothed with dynamic fabrics, simple leather or even an “integral leather” trim. This now extends to the entire passenger compartment which is usually unseen in this segment. In Black, Vintage or Beige, the attractive interior trims differ according to the range of body colours: Fashionable pearlescent black, subtle “terre d’ombre” and also the established favourites: blue, red, black and grey are available.

A typical CC specification

Meticulously designed to enhance the day-to-day comfort and convenience of its occupants, the 308 CC offers a multitude of “everyday” benefits.

The fully automatic retractable roof can be magically transformed in 20 seconds and the operation can be viewed on the colour display, turning the car into a dynamic coupé or an elegant cabriolet according to the mood of its occupants.

A coupé-cabriolet with four full size seats, the 308 CC benefits from wider tracks and a wider body compared to the 307 CC, as well as a front seat structure which offers both generous leg room to the rear occupants and provides a good amount of space.

Two dynamic and flexible engines power the 308 CC through a six speed manual gearbox… Unless an automatic gearbox is preferred… They are the 1.6 litre THP 110 kW (150 bhp) turbocharged direct injection petrol engine and the 2.0 litre HDi FAP Euro 5 103 kW (140 bhp) diesel engine, the latter being also particularly environmentally-friendly.

The car combines both motoring enjoyment with efficient road holding… The wide tracks, the lowered ride height and high-performance suspension specially developed for this body style give the 308 CC excellent potential, together with a real sense of security for the driver. The large 302 x 26 mm disc brakes are an equal match to the performance of the engines. This is combined with an ESP system that watches over the occupants at all times.

Inside the 308 CC an excellent structural rigidity wards off any vibrations that might affect steering, rear vision or seat comfort. This is the result of carefully placed structural reinforcements: dampers that pacify, braces ready to take the strain… In short, the 308 CC offers a highly rigid structure and excellent vibration damping demonstrating Peugeot’s coupé-cabriolet expertise.

An indispensable ingredient of comfort and convenience inside the car, the low interior noise levels of the 308 CC in its coupé configuration will clearly set the vehicle apart from its competitors.

The 308 CC is designed to create a real sensation of tranquillity in the passenger compartment… The structure is robust and designed to withstand and dissipate front and side impact energy. It is also supplemented by innovative and intelligent means of restraint that the cabriolet body shape dictates. They include a chest/pelvis side air bag built into the front seats and exclusively a side head air bag which is a world first, guaranteeing effective protection of all parts of the body regardless of seat position.

Within a few milliseconds of the risk of a rollover being detected (less than the blink of an eye), rear “pop-up” pyrotechnic roll-over protection bars create a passenger survival cell with the strengthened windscreen pillars designed for this purpose. The aim of all this important safety work is to obtain 5 stars in the EuroNcap test for the protection of adult occupants of the vehicle.

In harmony with the seasons…

The cabriolet configuration can even be enjoyed in cold weather, whether it’s making the most of early spring, saying no to winter or driving with the roof down in beautiful snow bound landscapes. Peugeot offers all these pleasures to the occupants of the 308 CC, thanks to its protective architecture, its intelligent air conditioning (which adapts its operation to the cabriolet body shape), heated seats, its windstop and… its remarkable “Airwave” system built into the front seats, which acts like a scarf by diffusing warm air adjustable for temperature/flow and direction.

Following are further typical CC features and equipment testifying to the ability of the 308 CC to anticipate its occupants’ needs…

Automatic remote-control locking of interior storage compartments (glove box and storage under the central armrest)

Centralised control of all four windows.

The special “rear seat access” function with electrically-operated seats.

Deadlocking of doors and selective unlocking

LED courtesy lighting in the door mirrors

Not forgetting a usable boot with dedicated storage spaces (including one under the boot carpet for the windstop), laid out to resemble a presentation box. Its capacity (VDA method) is 403 dm3 in the coupé configuration and 226 dm3 under the windstop in the cabriolet configuration (or 465 litres and 266 litres respectively in “water” equivalent).

Finally, to make the journey even more pleasant…

A wide range of WIP (World In Peugeot) options are available

WIP sound, MP3 CD audio system

WIP Bluetooth™, MP3 CD audio system, USB Box and hands-free kit.

WIP Nav, a user-friendly satellite navigation system offering a MP3 CD audio system, Bluetooth

functionality and satellite navigation with a retractable 7” 16/9 colour display.

WIP Com 3D, a top-of-the-range satellite navigation system with a 30 GB hard disc and a Juke Box function, MP3 CD audio system, integral mobile phone, Bluetooth functionality, USB connector and a retractable, high-resolution 7” 16/9 colour screen with a 3D display.

the JBL Hi-fi pack with 10 speakers offering made-to-measure sound which recognises and adapts to the cabriolet configuration.

Like every good couture range, Peugeot has developed four 207 CC ELLE models, each with a different bespoke leather interior and available in four interior/exterior color combinations to suit every style:

‘Glamour Mode’ – Thorium Grey metallic with black leather and Mulberry trim

’Classic Couture’ – Lacerta Yellow with black leather interior with a graphite trim

‘Rock Chic’ – Diamond black with black leather interior with a pale pink trim

‘Urban Chic’ – Silver and black leather interior with a bright blue trim

The interior is also accessorised with unique quilted center panels on the seats, door and side trims, ELLE logos embossed into the front seats, a carbon leather trimmed instrument cowling with contrasting stitching, leather gear lever gaiter with contrasting stitching and ELLE embroidered floor mats.

Owners of the 207 CC ELLE also receive special ELLE branded leather accessories to match the cars’ interior: key ring, credit card holder, coin purse and a leather service / handbook wallet.

There is also an optional styling upgrade kit available which includes twin front spoilers, sill extensions and twin sports exhausts, to create that special look.

Christian Stein, Marketing Director at Peugeot UK, said: “The 207 CC is an iconic, stylish vehicle and by teaming up with the equally iconic ELLE brand we hope to appeal to those individuals who share our passion for items of great style. This model extends our ‘catalogue of choice’ for the summer season in 2008.

“Running the competition in conjunction with the readers of ELLE magazine, globally renowned for a sense of style and sophistication, has enabled us to find out what colors and features the buying public want on their cars. From this we have created the perfect accessory for today’s fashion-conscious motorists.”

The 207 CC ELLE is the only fashion accessory to be seen with this season and due to its clever metal folding roof design, it’s the only accessory hardy enough to withstand winter as well as spring, summer and autumn.

As with all exclusive fashion items, Peugeot is creating a limited number of 207 CC ELLE models, so strut down to your local Peugeot showroom now to reserve your latest fashion accessory, priced from £18,495 (on-the-road).

Peugeot will unveil at the Geneva Motor Show the 308 GT THP, a model powered by a 1.6 liter turbo-charged THP 175 bhp petrol engine, previously found in the 207 GTi THP 175. The engine will be mated by a new 6-speed manual gearbox.

Designed in co-operation with the BMW Group, the 1.6 liter turbo-charged petrol engine develops a maximum power of 175 bhp at 6000 rpm but is characterised mainly by its generous torque output. With a maximum torque output of 180 lb ft (or 195 lb ft with overboost) at only 1600 rpm, the engine provides excellent in-gear acceleration and levels of driveability normally associated with a larger capacity engine.

The 308 GT THP will go on sale starting April.

Peugeot will unveil two new 308 models at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the innovative and practical 308 SW and the dynamic 308 GT THP 175. This new top of the range petrol model will be powered by the 1.6 liter turbo-charged THP 175 bhp petrol engine, previously found in the 207 GTi THP 175. It is also fitted with a new 6-speed manual gearbox.

To match the dynamic nature of the engine, the exterior of the vehicle benefits from a number of cosmetic changes. The lower front bumper panel has a unique appearance which is combined with a rear spoiler and a reduced overall ride height.

Inside, the interior gains an aluminum gear knob and foot pedals and a new steering wheel design.

This new engine provides the 308 with higher performance levels while, at the same time, providing a combined fuel consumption of 37.1 mpg and CO2 emissions of 180 g/km, 10% less than those of the 307 2.0 liter Feline 180.

The 308 GT THP 175 will go on sale in the UK in April and more information concerning specification and prices will be announced nearer the launch date.

The spirit of the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP

With the 908 HDi FAP, the Peugeot Sport team in its first year of participation in the Le Mans Series managed to win all 6 races of the 2007 programme and achieve a magnificent 2nd place in the legendary Le Mans 24 Hours.
Competence, precision, efficiency, endurance and speed are prized qualities within the Peugeot Sport team. They are also all present in Peugeot’s new Bipper, ready to meet the expectations of the many users who will choose this new vehicle as their day to day partner.
There are other points in common too between the 908, “winner of the 2007 Le Mans Series” and the Bipper “Beep Beep!”… such as versatility and the ability to weave in and out of traffic… or indeed their diesel engines incorporating HDi diesel particle filter system (DPFS) technology, albeit delivering power of an entirely different order – plus or minus a nought in the middle – (more than 700 bhp for one and 70 bhp for the other!).

Thanks to its compact size and its versatility, the “Beep Beep!” can be a very useful companion in numerous situations: a quick trip between the Peugeot Sport site, in Vélizy-Villacoublay, and a local supplier; a rapid support vehicle when at a race circuit, transport between the team’s motor home and another part of the track,

The designers wanted this concept car to be identified as closely as possible with Peugeot Sport. The car therefore displays the same colour scheme as the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP: matt black sides, red bonnet and roof and a white stripe running lengthways along the vehicle.

Its sides display the stylised lion’s head of Peugeot Sport, with the numbers 7 and 8 adjacent to the side windows in a reference to each of the competition 908 HDi FAP cars. The vehicle’s special gold tinted windows mimic the visors of the 908 driver’s helmets.

In terms of wheels and suspension, and to maintain the consistency of the external appearance, a number of modifications to the standard production vehicle have been implemented:

the brakes, 313 mm diameter discs at the front,

the tyres, Michelin Pilot Sport 225/45 R 18 versions fitted to 18’’ black wheels whose design is inspired by the wheels of the 20Cup concept car, but with discreet red highlighting.

Equipped with a standard production power unit, the “Beep Beep!” features a 5-speed electronically controlled manual gearbox (the BMP5) and a 1.4 litre HDi engine developing a power of 55 kW (≈70 bhp) and a torque of 160 Nm at 1750 rpm.
It is also equipped with a diesel particle filter system (DPFS), also known as FAP.

With this efficient power train and thanks to its optimised aerodynamics, its fuel consumption does not exceed 4.5 litres per 100 km in the combined cycle with CO2 emissions of 119 g/km, the same as the production HDi model.

The 308 will be Peugeot’s fi rst vehicle with HDi hybrid technology to be marketed before the end of the decade. This vehicle strengthens the environmental impact of the 308 range and provides concrete evidence of work carried out by Peugeot in this fi eld. This demonstrator features an original body colour (pearlescent white with green overtones), and special trim and equipment to differentiate it from the production hatchback models.

HDi hybrid technology: a significant new step in the reduction of fuel consumption and emissions

For a number of years, environmental efficiency has been at the heart of the development policy of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group. In Europe, where diesel powered cars are the most popular option due to the many technological developments and the fi tment of diesel particulate fi lter systems (DPFS), helping to control fuel consumption and reduce emissions.

Now a signifi cant new step in reducing fuel consumption comes in the form of hybrid diesel technology.
Based on like for like power outputs, this technology offers a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of around 35% compared to a traditional diesel engine.
Further research carried out since the unveiling of the fi rst 307 HybridHDi demonstrator in 2006, have confi rmed the sound judgment of the initial strategic and technical ideas.

The demonstrator presented is a fi ve door 308 Premium Pack version incorporating the most efficient parallel hybrid architecture to date, combined with a 6-speed electronically controlled manual gearbox.
The 80 kW (≈ 110 bhp) 1.6 HDi DPFS diesel engine is coupled with a 16 kW (≈ 22 bhp) electric motor providing an available power of 96 kW, comparable to that of the 308 with a 2.0 litre HDi DPFS 100 kW diesel engine (≈ 136 bhp).

Complimenting present automotive aspirations, Flux has shown the theme’s most relevant illustrations, since its concept corresponds to a type of car that achieves utter driving Pleasure through its Light weight and Efficiency, while at the same time remaining Accessible through the Simplicity and Ecology of its design.

Flux was chosen by a jury chaired by Frédéric Saint-Geours, General Manager of Automobiles Peugeot and made up of Peugeot representatives, its Style Centre, Xbox, but also of web based people who voted online.

Unveiled at this year’s Geneva show, and thanks to its sophisticated design, Flux will be making a second appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Flux will appear ‘real’ in the form of a full-scale model presented at Peugeot’s exhibition space and ‘virtual’ in a new version of the PGR 4 game on Xbox 360. These two elements constitute the two most fantastic prizes of the 4th Peugeot design competition.

The 4th design competition attracted greater participation, with more than 200 additional projects compared with the 3rd competition (4,029 compared with 3,800), confirming its international appeal, with 113 countries represented as opposed to 107 in the last competition.

The production of Flux

Flux was produced under the control of Peugeot’s Style Centre according to the rules normally adopted when making a show vehicle. Entrusted to Delphine Gouget, architect within the team responsible for making concept cars, Flux required the involvement of various style specifics and the use of the most powerful technological resources over a period of three months.

With the SW concept which first appeared in 2002 with the launch of the 307 SW, Peugeot created a new motoring concept, which has since become available in other models in the range.
Today the “SW” is synonymous with a true life style car within the Peugeot range and offers dynamism both in terms of style and road holding. The abbreviation also symbolises practicality and versatility, with good interior space and carrying capacity and superb modularity, allowing the car to adapt to its user’s wishes.

This SW body style also marked the arrival of the panoramic glass roof onto production vehicles, offering extraordinary levels of interior brightness and an unprecedented feeling of space and visibility, particularly for the rear passengers.
The SW therefore combines several benefits such as driving pleasure, comfort inside the car, and carrying capacity.
Capitalising on the strong points of the 308 hatchback, the 308 SW Prologue concept car, while asserting its own personality, takes the definition of the SW even further:

further in terms of its elegant and extremely modern style;

further in terms of flexibility, with the search for maximum practicality for potential users;

further in terms of comfort inside the car, thanks to a particularly refined interior achieved through

the use of original, natural colours and materials enhanced by the car’s exceptional brightness.

In brief, the 308 SW Prologue goes further to making the dream of driving pleasure come true.

Style

The 308 SW Prologue succeeds in harmonising the now familiar expressive and dynamic front design of the 308 with a very original design of the rear. Making the most of the hatchback’s semi-tall architecture, the finished vehicle takes into account the desired requirements in terms of carrying capacity and interior space for passengers, with the possibility of also installing a 3rd row of seats.

From the protruding “nose” of the bonnet, two style lines flow back over the bonnet, merging with the front windscreen pillars and then continuing as far as the car’s rear tailgate. The sharp and piercing look created by the bi-Xenon directional headlamps and the aluminium-coloured front grille with its recessed design is also derived from the 308 three and five door hatchback.

From the side, the vehicle offers a dynamism that is rare in this segment, with a particularly expressive forward-positioned window line. The highly original shape of the rear quarter light windows builds on this dynamic design, particularly since this window provides visibility to the passengers in the 3rd row.

The sides of the vehicle create a sense of motion that extends to the rear lights, enhancing the contours of the car’s prominent shape. Finally, the metallic aluminium coloured roof bars add fluidity and a dash of elegance.

The sophisticated and very bold rear lines are based on the idea of a wraparound single piece rear tailgate glass, which tightly fits around the sides of the body. In addition to its very original outline, this rear tailgate glass takes into account the need for rear access and visibility and can be opened independently of the tailgate, thereby easing loading in certain circumstances.

Combined with ruby coloured lights, the styling gives this concept car a highly distinctive real personality, as well as an overall impression of durability, size and an original modern feel.

The tailgate provides a wide access area to the inside of the car and also a particularly low load sill for maximum practicality.

Its very exclusive metallic body colour shows off the body contours to remarkable effect.

Interior

The interior offers a warm and refined atmosphere with an emphasis on lifestyle. The resulting atmosphere illustrates a high level of craftsmanship thanks to the use of natural materials and high quality finishes. The fascia panel with its very simple and fluid contours, matching those of the hatchback, is fully trimmed with Aniline brown leather creating a pearlescent reflective finish. Leather can also be found on the seats and door interior trim panels.

This creates a monochrome effect with the use of other high quality materials such as linen and silk. Sandstone coloured silk can be found on some parts of the seats and door trims. Benefiting from the brightness of the large glazed surface area, including the panoramic glass roof, this material generates a soft glow that reinforces the overall effect of quality.

Some components are coated with sprayed nickel such as the rims of the air vents, instruments, door handles and the surround of the gear lever knob, adding their own touch of class to this cosy and timeless atmosphere. Growing in character over time, these metallic components will continue to shine like stunning objects of art.

To complete the feeling of quality, a bespoke luggage set has been produced using the same materials found in the passenger compartment. This can easily be accommodated between the two 2nd row seats, where it then serves as an armrest.

Engine

The 308 SW Prologue concept car is powered by the 2.0 litre HDi DPFS 100 kW (≈136 bhp) engine equipped with an additive-enhanced diesel particulate filter system (DPFS). Its excellent performance offers genuine driving pleasure and complete peace of mind. Its HDi DPFS technology, in accordance with the spirit of the car, ensures it is environmentally-friendly, with reduced CO2 emissions and the complete eradication of particulate emissions.

Bit this new fuel is not compatible with standard petrol engines. It attacks certain materials and its specific physico-chemical characteristics require changes to be made to the fuel system and the engine injection system, among other things. Only vehicles that have been specially adapted can use superethanol. These vehicles can run on petrol, superethanol or any combination of the two (petrol / superethanol).

Based on the know-how it has acquired in Brazil, Peugeot will be marketing vehicles that run on superethanol in Sweden, the Netherlands and France as from September 2007; these vehicles will be called BioFlex. For France, the first models to be proposed are the 307 SW and Estate 1.6 l BioFlex 110, featuring the distinctive BioFlex logo specific to this technology.

Orders will be taken in France as from July, for delivery during the course of September. Despite the extra cost of the technical adaptation, Peugeot is doing everything to promote this technology by proposing the Comfort Pack versions of the 307 SW and Estate 1.6 l BioFlex 110 for the same price as the corresponding petrol versions, i.e. € 20,400 and € 19,500, respectively.

Why choose a BioFlex engine?

An ecological choice The reduced CO2 emissions obtained by using superethanol are based on the balance obtained over the entire cycle, from production to combustion (principle known as “from well/field to wheel”). According to some experts, the maximum total gain in CO2 obtained through the use of E85 could amount to 70 %.

The production of agricultural ethanol results in a gain in CO2 that corresponds to the amount absorbed by the plants during their growth (photosynthesis process). The gain obtained through the production of ethanol is therefore significantly dependent on the plants used, on their production, and on the method of transformation.

In itself, the combustion of E85 fuel in the engine emits approximately 5 % less CO2 than that of lead-free petrol, and in the case of the 307 BioFlex working on a combined cycle, this corresponds to 169 g of CO2 per km as opposed to 178 g in the case of petrol.

Tax advantages

In France, both for the general public and for professional users, the cost of vehicle registration papers could be reduced by 50 %, or could even be completely free of charge in some regions. Professional users also have the advantage of exceptional amortisation conditions, total exemption from TVS (Corporate Vehicle Tax) for 2 years, and VAT that can be claimed back to the extent of 80 % on the E85 fuel consumed.

Other advantages

The first advantage for the customer is freedom of choice. As Peugeot is eager to promote biofuels, there will be no additional cost for the customer to cover the extra outlay for technical adaptation: the 307 BioFlex models will be available at the same price as the corresponding petrol versions. The tax reduction on superethanol has made it possible to obtain a price at the pump of approximately € 0,80 per litre, which compensates the increase in consumption of approximately 35 % due to the fact that ethanol has a lower energy value than petrol.

These engines adapt themselves automatically to all mixtures of lead-free petrol and superethanol. So the customer can run the car only on lead-free petrol if he/she wishes, in which case the 307 BioFlex will not consume any more than the equivalent 307 equipped with the standard petrol engine. The final advantage is a slight improvement in performance obtained with E85 compared to petrol, estimated at + 4 % torque and + 2.5 % power.

Proven technology

Since March 2005, in Brazil, Peugeot has been selling the 206 1.6 l capable of running on petrol, on “pure” ethanol (E100), or on any combination of the two. The original modifications made to the TU5JP4 engine, to make it compatible with ethanol, mainly concerned the injectors, the spark plugs, the valves, the throttle butterfly valve control unit, the piston rings and the supply hoses. Since that time, in Brazil, this technology has been extended to the 1.4 l engine for the 206 and also to the saloon versions of the 307 with 1.6 l engines, and approximately 60,000 vehicles have been sold to date.

The 307 Estate and SW 1.6 l BioFlex 110 marketed in Europe use the TU5JP4 engine of the Brazilian 206 and 307, modified to meet the Euro IV standard applicable in Europe.

With a displacement of 1,587 cc, this engine develops a maximum power of 80 to 82 kW (110 to 112 hp EEC) at 5,800 rpm, and a maximum torque of 147 to 153 N.m at 4,000 rpm depending on the petrol / ethanol mixture used as fuel. This engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. This means that 307 BioFlex vehicles running on lead-free petrol obtain identical results in terms of both performance and fuel consumption, as compared to the standard petrol engine. When running on superethanol, 307 BioFlex vehicles are slightly more powerful, with slightly improved standing-start and passing acceleration figures.

In addition to the initial changes to the engine, modifications specific to European 307 BioFlex vehicles have been made to the functions that are directly connected with fuel. The digital engine control unit specific to 307 BioFlex vehicles manages the fuel supply according to the fuel composition measured by the lambda (EGO) sensor. The fuel tank is identical, but the minimum fuel level warning software has been changed in order to take the type of fuel used into account, in consideration of the additional fuel consumption due to the presence of ethanol results, which results in reduced autonomy.

Attention initially focused on making the vehicle as light as possible by the use of numerous aluminium components, for example the two roll over protection bars that separate the passenger compartment and give shape to the exterior styling, and the use of a polycarbonate rear windscreen and a large number of carbon fibre body parts.

Using the 308 as a blueprint offered a number of benefi ts. It made it possible:

to adopt a particularly stylish front design;

to share a large number of components already developed for the hatchback, therefore simplifying the production of this coupé;

to capitalise on the hatchback’s strong points, which become even more effective in the 308 RC Z concept car (for example, suspension components, wheels, certain equipment items and the fl owing design of the fascia panel).

Its taut lines and streamlined design ensure an effi cient aerodynamic specifi cation (a SCx of just 0.65), improving performance, fuel consumption and therefore helping to protect the environment due to the reduced CO2 emissions. With a length of 4.276 (same as the hatchback), a width of 1.840 (25 mm more than the hatchback) and a height of only 1.320 m, the proportions of the 308 RC Z concept car combines a very dynamic design with a high level of road holding.

Exterior styling

The particularly stylish design of the front of the 308 blends brilliantly with the proportions of this concept car. The Peugeot “Lion” badge is mounted to what can truthfully be called the «nose of the bonnet». From here, the style lines fl ow upwards back over the bonnet and into the two polished aluminium roll-over protections bars. This fl owing «V» profi le gives the vehicle its shape and creates an impression of movement in all positions.

2007 Peugeot 308 RC Z Concept

Visually, the fl uidity of the design is further enhanced by the way the large tinted front windscreen, the carbon fi bre roof panel and the polycarbonate tinted rear window are combined together.

The “feline-like” front headlights extend along the line of the bonnet. They contain four «cylindrical lights» each which create a bright and piercing beam of light. These “cylindrical lights” are clearly visible due to the clear glass headlamp lenses. The lower front panel differs from that of the 308 hatchback. It has a sharper and sportier shape with a single air intake and integral front fog lamps, while the front grille features chrome detailing.

From the side, the vehicle displays a strong profi le with its prominent front wings, deeply sculpted sides, and particularly generous rear wings. The doors raise the visual profi le, creating a link between the sloping front design and the curvaceous rear design.

The end result, fi rmly sitting on 19 inch wheels, suggests power, strength and dynamism, like an animal ready to pounce.

The specifi c shape of the rear window required the use of polycarbonate instead of glass. The two curved sections emerging from the roof give the vehicle an original appearance and contribute greatly to its aerodynamic effi ciency. The design of the tailgate assists the airfl ow over the rear of the vehicle, while the shape of the rear of the vehicle provides suffi cient down force onto the rear suspension to eliminate the need for a rear spoiler, thereby preserving the purity of the vehicle’s lines.

2007 Peugeot 308 RC Z Concept

The Peugeot Lion badge is displayed in a U shaped panel in the centre of the tailgate, and is backlit at night. In addition, simply by pressing the lion badge, opens the tailgate. The rear lights are mounted fl ush with the car’s wide rear wings. Fitted with light emitting diodes (LEDs), they have a ruby red fi nish combined with a stylised translucent section which contains the direction indicator.

Two centrally mounted exhaust pipes are integrated into the wraparound lower rear panel. To achieve this, the rear exhaust silencer has been located in a transverse position where it also serves as an aerodynamic diffuser, but still allows suffi cient space for the storage of a spare wheel.

The rich metallic grey exterior body colour is created by a special process using fi nely milled metallic particles. This gives the impression that the vehicle has been formed from a single block of metal, enhancing the purity of the car’s lines and the styling of the bodywork to remarkable effect.

The interior

The fascia panel in 308 RC Z concept car has been taken directly from the hatchback. A pure, elegant and fl uid design, it allows a particularly clear view of the outside thanks to its sloping design which complements the vehicle’s large front windscreen. It offers a high level of interior brightness, improved visibility and an overwhelming feeling of space. Reflecting the hatchback, no effort has been spared in terms of the fi nishing touches and meticulous attention to comfort and convenience inside the car. This is evident in the care given to the styling of each component and the quality of materials used, both in terms of visual appearance and tactile appeal.

First seen at the 2000 Geneva Autoshow, the big cat inspired Peugeot 607 Feline was designed at the La Garenne Design Centre. The 607 Feline is a 4.07 m long, 1.88 m wide, 1.19 m high wedge. The 2.58 m wheelbase allows extremely short overhangs which reinforce the car’s dynamic shape.
Usually concept cars are created to preview and perfect upcoming models. The 607 Feline didn’t follow this trend, since it was designed after the introduction of the 607.
The very latest technology is used in the form of a single-piece carbon fibre body structure, multiplex wiring and direction seeking headlights. This 607 is equipped with a 3.0 litre V6 (210bhp) petrol engine, radical double A-strut suspension, front rocking levers and a flexible cross-member at the rear, confirming that this is a unique and eminently drivable modern car.

Peugeot’s original brief for the 607 Feline was to concieve a luxurious, racy roadster with some design elements borrowed from the 607 sedan, such as the front end and the rear light cluster. All four wheels are pushed to the extreme corners of the Feline, possible for a one-off concept, but unfortunately unfeasible for most production cars.

2007peugeot 607 feline

The shell is carbon fibre, made in a vacuum from aircraft-type honeycombed panels. Linked to the axle assembly at the front, it covers the passenger compartment and body essentials, stopping just in front of the axis of the rear wheels.

The front mounted V6 engine is placed longitudinally behind the gear box. An innovative package which makes the very short overhangs displayed on the 607 Feline possible.

Strictly a two-seater, this car is laid out with longitudinal power unit to the front and five-speed manual gearbox forward of the engine. The six-cylinder engine is a 2946 cc 60° V with output of 152 kW (210 bhp). It has variable timing at intake, four overhead camshafts and twenty-four valves. This mechanical layout produces little polar inertia and ensures near-perfect weight distribution between the front and rear axles.

For access to the car interior, the doors slide almost entirely into the front wings. The windscreen also moves 50 cm on its wide frame between the passenger compartment and the bonnet while the rear bubble moves back 12.5 cm.

407 SW Sport XS is available in four metallic colours – Onyx Black, Aluminium, Iron Grey or Halcyon Blue – with Zino half leather upholstery as standard. In addition, leather upholstery in either Mistral Black or Cerbere Red is also available as a factory option as is the new RT4 Multi-Media system.

The 407’s 2.2-litre HDi is an evolution of the existing 2.2 DW12 TED4 engine, and utilises the latest advances in diesel technology by combining power, refinement and excellent fuel economy. It is the fourth phase of the cooperation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the Ford Motor Company (initiated in 1998).

The quest to deliver an outstanding state of the art diesel engine has resulted in the creation of a twin turbocharged, parallel sequential induction system that gives unrivalled levels of power and responsiveness, even at low revs. The first low inertia turbo operates up to 2,700 rpm, and gives an immediate response to throttle input. As the revs rise, the second, smaller turbo kicks in seamlessly to give enhanced performance throughout the rest of the rev range. The new HDi 170 is fully compliant with Euro 4 regulations, and produces a maximum torque output of 277 lb ft at only 1,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Technical Overview

The in-line four-cylinder diesel engine has 16 valves (4 valves per cylinder) with direct injection and two fixed geometry turbochargers. Bosch injection, with piezoelectric injectors, delivers high-pressure fuel from the pump driven by the exhaust camshaft. There are two overhead camshafts (of which only the exhaust camshaft is driven by the timing belt).
Performance and fuel consumption

A world of new experience

Peugeot, a pioneer of open top cars

It was in the 1930s that Peugeot started the innovative concept of the coupé cabriolet with the 401, 601 and 402 “Eclipse”. This innovative concept was to become one of the manufacturer’s trademark features.

At the end of 2000, Peugeot launched the 206 CC delivering all the promises made by the 1998 20? concept car, with its innovative folding electric roof, all at an affordable price:

a 100 % cabriolet, a lifestyle car at one with the environment;

a 100 % coupé embodying dynamism and comfort … guaranteeing inthe cabriolet configuration a rigid roof that offered protection from even the wettest of winters.

The 206 CC broke new ground with regards to technology, manufacturing and cost. It created a real increase in the market for “leisure” cars, with coupé cabriolets very much to the fore – the European market for coupé cabriolets increased nine fold between the years 2000 and 2005, to around 150,000 units. Peugeot has over the years expanded its offerings in the market and
now has firmly asserted itself as the leading manufacturer of coupé cabriolets, with today more than 500,000 vehicles sold world wide:

- Since 2000, the 206 CC with its 2+2 architecture has led the way in the “B segment”. With more than 360,000 units produced, the 206 CC is the world’s best selling coupé cabriolet;

- In the “M1 segment”, the elegant 307 CC a full four seater has already sold over 150,000 units since its launch in 2003.

Exterior

The 207 CC – All of Peugeot’s know-how with a strong personality …

While the 207 CC perfectly encapsulates the values of Peugeot and shares basic characteristics with the 207 hatchback, it also effortlessly combines qualities rarely found on coupé-cabriolets in this market segment.
This genuinely places it in a unique position:

a balanced and elegant style;

superior specifications in terms of passive safety, rigidity and comfort;

a dynamic character, combined with competent road holding… providing both fun and enjoyment for all …

Balanced dimensions …

The 207 CC shares with the hatchback the “sports” styling look at the front:

a length of 4.037 m

a wheelbase of 2.540 m

a width of 1.750 m

but has a reduced height of 1.397 m (-75 mm) accentuating the coupé styling.

2 + 2 architecture for maximum enjoyment …

The 2+2 type architecture featured on the 207 CC combines:

a stylish and elegant design both in the coupé or the cabriolet configuration, thanks to its fully automatic retractable roof which folds into the boot;

supportive seats providing good comfort levels for both front passengers;

two further seats available at the rear;

exceptional performance in terms of passive safety;

a rear design which offers a practical boot able to accommodate a “space saver” spare wheel.

An elegant flowing shape that fires the passions …

Styled by the Peugeot style centre, the compact and purposeful body shape of the 207 CC exudes a natural dynamism, both in the coupé and cabriolet configuration.

The front of the 207 CC shares the “sports” visual look also found on the hatchback, and with the complex curve of the front windscreen it provides a very elegant look.

>The lower profile of the coupé exhibits very pure lines that evoke dynamism, thanks in particular to the flowing styling of the rear wings.

The design of the rear strengthens the Marque’s identity and incorporates the lights and bumper from the hatchback. The design of the large rear windscreen, where it meets the boot lid, is highlighted by a brushed metal surround, which cleverly disguises the size of the rear of the car.

In the cabriolet configuration, the design of the front windscreen pillars creates a visual barrier, leaving the passenger compartment totally open to the environment. Only the head restraints and the small chrome active rear roll over bars emerge from within this space.

In both the coupé and cabriolet configuration, the large 16 ” or 17 ” alloy wheels (as standard or optional, according to version) add a dynamic finishing touch to the 207 CC.

—-

Engines

With two petrol engines and one diesel engine, the 207 CC comes with a comprehensive range of power trains for this market segment. In France, the range will consist of:

1.6 litre 16v petrol, 88 kW (˜ 120 bhp.)

1.6 litre 16v petrol THP 110 kW (˜ 150 bhp.)

1.6 litre 16v HDi DPFS 80 kW (˜ 110 bhp.)

These three 4-cylinder engines have a cylinder head with twin overhead camshafts and sixteen valves and are combined with a 5-speed manual gearbox, matched to the particular characteristics of each unit. A 4-speed automatic gearbox with a Porsche System Tiptronic sequential control is also available on the new 1.6 litre 16v 88 kW petrol engine.

1.6 litre 16v petrol, 88 kW – EP6

After the 1.6 litre 16v THP (EP6DT) engine with a power of 110 kW (˜150 bhp.), the EP6 is the 2nd engine created from the co-operation with the BMW Group, to be featured in a Peugeot vehicle. It has a maximum power of 88 kW (˜120 bhp.) at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 160 Nm at 4250 rpm.

It has a very flat torque curve, since even at low engine speeds (2000 rpm), it produces 140 Nm, or 88 % of its maximum torque, thereby ensuring excellent driveability.

The advanced technology used in this engine is a genuine first for a vehicle in the B segment. In addition to its variable timing system for the inlet and exhaust camshafts, a variable lift system on the inlet valves allows their maximum lift to be adjusted gradually according to the position of the accelerator pedal.

It is a result of the cooperation between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation and PSA Peugeot Citroën, this new 4×4 DHi – DPFS will be marketed from July 2007.
The 4007 is loyal to Peugeot’s values, style value, dynamic, aesthetically pleasing and
innovative. Straight from Peugeot’s design centre, the racy and feline front design of the 4007, with its tapered headlights and its open front grill are the first signs that it belongs to the marque. The chrome structure that makes up this large air inlet strengthens the car’s elegance and its natural air of nobility.

Framing the air entry at the bottom of the bumper, the fog lights in a chrome surround, give a suggestion of refinement and strength. The aerodynamic design of the roof gives an elegant profile which is complimented by a contemporary rear. This is enlightened by a piece of brushed aluminium in the original design which emphasises the translucent jewel-like lights whilst showing off the marque’s chrome emblem above the number plate.

The generous size of the wheel arches and the ground clearance contribute to give the 4007 a general impression of controlled power and the promise of a vehicle dedicated to drivers no matter what the driving conditions. The 4007’s interior has also benefited from Peugeot’s specialised designers. It is dynamic and functional and offers lots of storage.

The dashboard material and design as well as the door trim have been reworked to satisfy European customers’ expectations.

Peugeot has allocated the best clean diesel technology HDi – FAP to its SUV

Always aware of the environment, Peugeot has fitted an advanced technology particle filter (FAP) to the 4007 series, a guage of performance durability, associated with the latest diesel engine, the 2.2 l HDi This diesel engine with direct common rail injection of 2.2 l cylinders is the result of the partnership with the Ford Group, It has an engine power of 115 kW (156 hbi in the EEC), a torque that reaches 380 Nm and is able to function on 30% biofuel.

Pleasurable and agile in use, this engine boasts one of the best consumption and emission evaluations amongst the best in the category. The 6 speed manual gearbox makes best use of the characteristics of this new HDi engine.

Specifically Perfected Road Handling

The electronic management of the four motorised wheels is based upon specifically perfected road handling , thanks to recognised know how. The constitutive elements such as the steering, the four wheel drive, the suspension, the brakes and the tyres have been re-evaluated and adapted in order to obtain maximum efficiency.

Following the example of all Peugeots, the road handling of the 4007 is both dynamic and safe.

4007 – An Extension of the Peugeot Range

With this new offer, Peugeot is following its strategy of extending its commercial range in response to the more diversified requests of its customers. The 4007 brings together strongly all the attributes of the marquee within a growing segment of the market

This legendary race, which every year attracts more than 200,000 spectators, will provide Peugeot with an opportunity to express fully the values enshrined in its philosophy: excellence, demonstrated by the choice of endurance coupled with reliability, dynamism, emphasised by a team challenge based on performance, looks, illustrated by the car’s feline profile, and lastly innovation, expressed amongst other ways through the use of technology designed to protect the environment.

The car that will display the Peugeot colours in the Le Mans 24 Hours race and in the “Le Mans Series” in 2007 will be the Peugeot 908. The choice of number comes from, “90” designating an exceptional Peugeot model and 8 the next number in sequence after the 907 concept car.

The choice of body style is that of a closed car, in line with changes to the regulations announced by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest on 16 June 2006. Equally there was also a desire to keep a link with the two-times winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1992 and 1993, the Peugeot 905.

While from a technical point of view this solution presents a number of drawbacks (weight, height of the centre of gravity, operational problems), the Peugeot Sport team felt that it also offers advantages, particularly in terms of chassis rigidity and aerodynamics.

The monocoque body

The monocoque body is made of carbon and presents a truly closed structure, contrary to the 905, which was a “racing car” with a detachable tubular rollover bar. This type of structure offers strong natural rigidity (the “eggshell” effect) and allows the weight of the monocoque body to be optimised.

Body and aerodynamics

Created from scratch at the beginning of 2006, Peugeot Sport’s aerodynamics department had the difficult task of designing in just a few weeks an exterior body that was both original and aerodynamically efficient.Three months after the appointment of the aerodynamics project team leader, a model of the car was undergoing the first tests in the wind tunnel!

The car’s profile results not only from the necessary compromise between aerodynamic efficiency and drag, but also the need to provide optimum airflow to the different radiators and intercoolers located within the generously dimensioned bodywork.

Suspension, steering, brakes

Given the challenge of designing a complete car in record time and the particular constraints of the HDi DPFS engine, the Peugeot Sport team relied on proven solutions for the front and rear suspension design, the electric power steering and the brakes.

The gearbox

This is positioned longitudinally and will allow the fitment of up to 6 gear ratios, the limit laid down by the regulations. It has been designed to withstand the enormous torque of the engine, while ensuring optimum weight and size characteristics.

The engine

The chosen engine architecture is a 100° V12 with a capacity of 5.5 litres. This is the maximum capacity permitted by the regulations and was chosen due to its greater internal airflow at low engine speeds. It also gives potential future development opportunities to use different grade fuels.

The choice of a twelve cylinder engine helps keep the cylinder bore diameter very close to that of a production series engine. In doing so, Peugeot can call on its extensive knowledge of diesel combustion and also ensure the engine has a reasonable piston stroke. The V12 architecture, well known for its good balance, also reduces vibrations to a minimum.

The 100° V angle, like the V12 architecture, makes it possible to lower the height of the centre of gravity without affecting the engine’s torsional rigidity. Two diesel particulate filters are located at the end of each exhaust system and guarantee “smoke-free” operation of the engine under all conditions.

The two exhaust systems are as short as possible. On each side a 6 into 1 exhaust manifold is connected to a Garrett turbocharger, then to a very compact diesel particulate filter before ending in a side exhaust pipe, located in front of the rear wheel. The expected level of performance – a power of more than 515 kW (700 bhp) and a torque in excess of 1200 Nm, which is unprecedented for a diesel engine – is a direct results of Peugeot’s diesel engine expertise, combined with the mechanical specification of the V12 engine.

Electronics

The 908 will benefit fully from Peugeot Sport’s considerable expertise and knowledge in electronics, acquired as a result of its extensive experience with WRC cars – which are generously equipped with electronic systems – and in particular with respect to their experience of electronically controlled differentials.Peugeot Sport will also benefit from the experience of the main supplier Bosch, who will be supplying and developing the “car system” on the basis of specifications provided by Peugeot Sport.

A high level of performance is therefore expected in terms of “traction control”, a key function for controlling engine torque in a race track environment, whilst also ensuring optimum performance of the Michelin tyres.

This category will be the curtain raiser to all five rounds of the Le Mans Series (LMS) and an extra event will also take place in France as part of the Rencontres Peugeot Sport. It is a racing car embodying the attributes of both LMP1 and LMP2 cars and complying with ACO regulations, particularly as regards rollover protection. Its rear design is reminiscent of the Sport Prototype cars of the 1970s, with its short engine cowling with no rear spoiler.

The chassis

The chassis is tubular and consists of three main parts for reasons of repairability and the engine-gearbox assembly occupies a central rear transverse position. For driver safety, the car’s structure (chassis, front and rear rollover bars, crash box, and steering column) meets the requirements of IAF regulations governing Sports Cars (LMP1 and LMP2).

Suspension, steering, brakes

Double wishbone and spring-damper units – front and rear.A large number o f components have been derived from Peugeot’s current vehicles range. They are, however, assembled according to “racing” criteria (special ball joints and fixtures):

Front and rear hub carriers from the 407, modified.

Discs and brake calipers from the 407.

Radiator and intercooler from the 207.

Steering column from the 206.

Steering from the 407.

An attempt has also been made to standardise as many parts as possible for the four suspension units.

The engine

The 1.6 litre THP 16v EP6 DTS engine is the same as that of the future 207RC, developed as part of the co-operation with the BMW Group. It is a standard engine except for the intake and exhaust systems which are modified for the Spider 207. The power output is 128 kW, or 175bhp, at 5800 rpm.

The gearbox

Sadev 6-speed dog ring sequential gearbox with selection controlled by “paddles” on the steering wheel.

Body and aerodynamics

The Spider 207 has two diffusers, one located under the bonnet forward of the front wheels, the other at the extreme rear. They are separated by a wide, flat under floor covering practically the entire underside of the car. These diffusers and extractors help improve road holding.Rear down force is also aided by the design of the imposing rear cowling, giving the car a specific style, but also making it possible to dispense with a rear spoiler, which can be very prone to accidental damage. The bodywork consists of 9 individual parts in order to reduce repair costs.

Electronics

The car features the standard Bosch electronic control unit (ECU), adapted, however, to the requirements of the Spider 207, but “locked” to prevent any reprogramming or modifications.A “black box” fitted to the car will continuously record the engine’s operating parameters. This data will be used for technical evaluation during events, but will not be accessible by competitors.

With the launch of the 207 hatchback, Peugeot’s designers naturally considered including a “CC” version in the new range, and applying all their expertise in the fi eld of “vehicles styled for pleasure”. With the “207 Epure” concept car, the Marque for the one part lifts the veil on a tangible future product.
However, its personality is twofold: in addition to twin coupé / cabriolet adaptability, this styling blueprint also conceals an example of future fuel cell technology for a more distant future…
The experimental power train that equips the 207 Epure includes the latest advances of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group in this area, without any adverse affect on the vehicle’s functional and stylistic features.

The spirit of freedom inherent in this design is therefore closely bound up with the car’s method of propulsion: the ensuing benefi ts – zero emissions, silent operation – which does much to enhance the pleasure of driving the car as a cabriolet. Both driver and car are then truly at one with their environment. Pleasure and ecology are united.

Exterior

The “pearl white” livery highlights the purity of the concept car’s lines while symbolising the ecological credentials of the technology that powers it. The familiar, elegant and expressive design of the front of the 207, is strengthened by its bold and fl owing contours. From the side, the high waistline at the rear creates an effect which, combined with the angle of the front windscreen and the “arch” of the closed roof, enhances the car’s dynamic presence by creating a sense of movement, even when it is stood still. The sculpting of the lower side panels adds further to the overall personality of the vehicle. Its special “Pitlane” alloy wheels strengthen the impression of a vehicle with superb road holding.

Chrome detailing circumvents the perimeter of the passenger compartment and includes a bold styling feature, located on top of the boot lid, helping to enhance the fl uidity of the design of the rear of the car. Extending from the boot lid, the rear spoiler, with its pronounced integrated shape, blends harmoniously into the rear diode-effect lights. Meticulous surface fi nishes, eloquent style lines and perfectly balanced proportions give the vehicle the natural equilibrium, elegance and dynamism sought after by its designers, whether it is a coupé or a cabriolet.

Interior

The interior expands on the theme of purity expressed by the exterior. The fascia panel of the 207, originally smooth and fluid, is covered entirely with white leather, as is most of the passenger compartment: the detailing, the trim on all four seats, and even the controls under the steering wheel. The white dials of the instrument panel and the chrome trims trengthen the modern and technological feel of the interior. Touches of “absinthe green”, inspired by the vehicle’s fl oor colour, are subtly interspersed throughout the passenger compartment, particularly in the form of discreet beads on the fascia panel, the door panels, the rear of the front seats and the head restraints. This colour also appears in the perforations of the seat leather, like little bubbles of oxygen, echoing the vehicle’s ecological method of propulsion. This harmony between white and mineral tones further accentuates the sensation of freedom, relaxation and energy that emanates from the car. From a functional point of view, the instrument panel incorporates all necessary information for monitoring the charge level of the battery and the quantity of on-board hydrogen, while the colour display in the centre console displays the fl ow of power between the electric motor, the battery and the fuel cell.

Technological content of the 207 : the “GENEPAC 20″

For the fi rst time on a demonstrator, the 207 uses a GENEPAC fuel cell. Combining simplicity and modularity, this French designed cell has been designed to be compact in installation and effi cient in use. The principle of this new cell, featuring PEMFC (Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell) technology, is based on the use of thin, stamped stainless-steel plates, which reduce the cost and volume of the cell compared to traditional plates. This system also allows for simple gauging of the cell’s power. For example, the cell used on this demonstrator, called the “GENEPAC 20”, is a 20 kW version of the GENEPAC system. The, “GENEPAC 20” consists of two modules each with a stack of thin plates and an assembly of electrode membranes. This fuel cell system therefore offers a level of effi ciency in excess of 50 % versus 25 to 30 %for an internal combustion engine.

Five cylinders containing 3 kg of hydrogen compressed to 700 bar provides the electric motor and the “lithium-Ion” battery with as much extra power and range as possible. They are located at the bottom of the vehicle’s boot, which frees up the two rear seats, does not affect the operation of the retractable roof mechanism and leaves part of the boot available for use in the coupé position. Use of an electric motor allows the “207 Epure” to consume energy only when in motion and to save energy during phases of deceleration. It also makes this demonstrator silent, an important quality for a vehicle driven in town and highly benefi cial during use as a cabriolet.

The PAC technologies give the “207 Epure” demonstrator a considerable range (around 350 km) while offering a pleasing level of performance with a maximum speed of 130 km/h.

The new 207 is the confirmation that Peugeot is as good as it gets when we are talking small cars. As a descendant of the best-seller 206, the new car offers lots of room (for this segment), an unprecedented level of equipped, attractive styling and a solid technical platform with robust petrol and diesel engines. At this time, the only available bodies are the three and five-door hatchbacks, but an estate and a coupe-cabriolet will be available soon. Offering 3 other super minis, the 107, 1007 and 206 (still available on certain markets), Peugeot can provide a small car for any taste and budget.

At its launch, the 205 created a whole new wave for Peugeot. Fifteen years later this wave seems to be changing into a veritable tsunami which is about to hit the small cars market. The 205 got to embody the dreams of several generations of hot hatches enthusiasts. Afterwards, starting with 1998, the permanently marked the small car segment and become one of the few small cars still in production after more than eight years. Offered as a three or five door hatchbacks, station wagon and coupe cabriolet it sold in more than 5,000,000 units over the last years. Used as a second car by most of its buyers, the 206 has quickly become a cult vehicle with a very solid image.

Daring to be a different car, the Peugeot 206 created the new tendency of continuously increasing expectations amid small car owners. Those were asking for a strong and stylish vehicle able to showcase their personality, a roomy but compact car, a vehicle that likes serving its owner.

The 207 is here to continue the path of its predecessor and take it to en entirely new level. By mixing the three key elements of aesthetic appeal, character and mechanical ability, the 207, will succeed in this task even it does not get to replace the 206, but continue with it side by side. With an extraordinary charisma that will leave no one indifferent, the new Peugeot is able to turn the basic need for mobility into authentic driving pleasure.

The small car segment has grown all over the world with more than 2% between 1998 and 2005 and is expected to increase by the same amount over the next five years. In that interval, thanks to the highly successful 206, Peugeot has raised its car sales in the B segment by 85 %. The modern society is changing; the number of people living alone, the number of young, single people at work and living with their parents, the number of active older citizens as a result of a lower retirement age is increasing. All of these changes make the purchase of a small car more and more desired. The widened range of vehicles available and the extensive body styles offered reflect these changes.

History

The Peugeot ‘2’ series has its roots all the way to 1929, with the initial launch of the 201. The ‘2’ series has continued with the 202, 203 and 204 that have marked the 20th century. In 1983, the 205, ‘hallowed number’ emerged and got replicated 5,278,054 times in not less than fifteen years. It got to be a three and five door hatchback, CTi (convertible), GTi and the Turbo 16 (winner in both the World Rally Championship and the Paris-Dakar long-distance rally). Afterwards, the 206 continued this ‘saga’ and since the 1998 launch it became the most successful ‘2’ series of all: offered as three and five door hatchback, a practical SW an innovative Coupe Cabriolet and the WRC, triple champion in the world of rallying. With more than 5,300,000 units already built, the production of the 206 is now extended to numerous production sites around the world, enabling the car to continue its incredible career. Recently it was unveiled with its sixth body type, the 206 sedan, which will begin its international career this year.

The car for the new generation, the 207 gets to follow the 206, not as a replacement, but more like an alternative.

Body & chassis

The 207 was designed by the Peugeot Style Centre and follows the latest design tendencies of the brand. Unfortunately, it does not have the unique and unmistakable lines of the 206, the only Peugeot to be styled by Turkish designer Gunat Murak.

The fascia of the 207 mirrors Peugeot’s new visual identity with a single air intake framed by large sleek high-tech headlights, the whole cars looks like a smaller face-lift 307. The front bumper is available in two different styles, and can be used with two styles of front fog lights, creating two distinctive looks: ‘Classic’ and ‘Sport’.

The ‘Classic’ creates a more elegant appearance, with the lower front panel accommodating the integral front fog lights. The more dynamic appearance of the ‘Sport’ styling is combined with circular fog lights mounted in chrome surrounds.

The 207s dynamic triangular profile has a very low waistline, sculpted wheel arches and flag type door mirrors with direction indicators built into their base, leaving the large wheels to accentuate the car’s overall elegance.

Helping to tell the styles apart, the rear exhaust pipe is shielded by the rear bumper skirt on the «Classic» versions, and is visible and chrome-plated on the «Sport» versions.

The 207 is designed on PSA Peugeot Citroën’s number «1» platform, which has undergone a number of modifications to ensure it meets the 207’s objectives of comfort, dynamic performance and safety.
