The iconic HUMMER H2 is introducing an exclusive Limited Dark Chrome Edition and it is available at Liberty Automobiles showrooms across the UAE.

Part of the innovative yet practical changes introduced to this Limited Dark Chrome Edition H2 include a more refined interior that combines luxury alongside HUMMER’s legendary ruggedness. In addition to this once-in-a-life-time trim that will be available to only 1,300 customers globally, offering are enhanced safety features, a sophisticated powertrain set-up and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology which offers the dual benefit of improved performance and fuel efficiency.

Adib Takieddine, Marketing Manager of HUMMER in the Middle East said: “With continuing innovations such as these, the HUMMER brand remains strong in the region. The additions to the line-up for 2009 including the HUMMER H3T and this Limited Dark Chrome Edition make it clear that HUMMER remains true to its DNA as a ‘Like Nothing Else’ brand. The Limited Dark Chrome Edition HUMMER H2 which takes styling and individualization to a distinctive and exclusive level, is the icing on the cake for the HUMMER enthusiasts.”

Exclusivity par excellence

The Limited Dark Chrome Edition H2 is available on both SUV and SUT models and these vehicles can be distinguished on the outside with black chrome details, including Twenty-inch chrome-clad wheels, grille, hood latches and handles, fuel filler door, door handles, mirror caps, “H2” badges, side air vents and spare tyre cover. Meanwhile the wheel flares (arches), rocker mouldings and hood (bonnet) louvre will be body coloured.

Three exterior colours are available with the Limited Dark Chrome Edition 2009 H2 including the new-for-2009 Silver Ice Metallic and the existing Sedona Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic. Designers have worked quite hard to work out the exterior and interior combinations for the benefit of discerning customers. Silver Ice Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic are offered with the Ebony/Shale interior combination, while the Sedona Metallic colour is exclusive to the Limited Dark Chrome edition and is offered only with the Sedona interior.

Smarter interior

A set of new seats in the H2 present a more sculptured appearance and offer improved comfort and lumber support. The top anchorage of the front seat belts is now mounted on the B-pillar rather than on the seats and this change enabled engineers to adopt an uncompromising approach to achieving optimum seat comfort. Among the new features are second-row captain’s chairs that deliver a more personal and luxurious seating choice; third-row seat storage that frees up more storage space in the H2’s interior.

Complementing the new seats are new door trim panels and throughout the cabin soft-touch materials and new, more tactile controls enhance the feeling of craftsmanship demonstrated by a new interior. Precision design has ensured that the interior panel gaps are just one millimetre which adds to the overall premium feel.

Meanwhile, an all-new instrument panel with a six-gauge instrument cluster features a more sporty appearance. The dashboard also features new vents that enhance heating or cooling comfort throughout the vehicle – particularly for the second-row and third-row seat occupants. The busy centre stack houses the climate controls and premium quality audio surround sound system.

Additional comfort and convenience features that are standard or optional (depending on model) include a new rear-seat overhead DVD entertainment system, a satellite navigation system and a rear-view camera system. Innovative technology has allowed the camera to be placed in the rear view mirror while the images appear on the mirror aiding the driver’s line of sight during the reversing manoeuvre.

A ‘must use’ convenience feature for Middle East customers is the popular remote start system that enables the vehicle’s interior to be heated or cooled prior to driving.

Optimised powertrain

The pulling power of the H2 comes from its lightweight small block 6.2-litre V8 engine that uses Variable Valve Timing technology to maximize performance and fuel efficiency. It produces 441 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 454 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm. The engine is made of lightweight materials and including an aluminium cylinder block.

Mated to this engine is a six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 electronically controlled automatic transmission which has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio – including two overdrive gears. Also included in the transmission is a “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with buttons on the steering wheel. This arrangement helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy and more control off-road with a revised crawl ratio of approximately 39:1. The axle ratio now stands at 3.73 and with this optimized powertrain set-up the towing capacity has been increased to 3,727kg.

The iconic HUMMER H2 is known for going where no other four wheel drive will venture. The model breaks new boundaries for 2009 with standard E85 Flexpower capability on every H2 sold, making it the only model of its kind with can run on E85 ethanol, gasoline or any combination of the two fuels.E85, which consists of up to 85 percent ethanol mixed with gasoline, is a cleaner-burning, higher-octane fuel that can help offset rising demand for oil.

GM is the global leader in producing flexible-fuel vehicles. In the USA, more than 3 million of the 7 million flexible-fuel vehicles on the road are GM cars and trucks. GM is committed to making half of its vehicles FlexPower capable by 2012.

How It Works:

E85 ethanol vehicles are designed to run on ordinary gasoline, E85 ethanol or any mix of the two. Every flexible fuel vehicle has an engine control module that helps to identify which fuel or mixture is running through the vehicle’s system. Based on that information, the fuel system automatically adjusts itself to run on that fuel mixture.

Ethanol is an alcohol which can be distilled from a number of sources, ranging from renewable crops such as sugar cane, to biomass or waste materials. Particular emphasis is being paid to the need to utilize sources that do not affect the price of third-world food commodities.

For example, GM is the leading automotive investor in developing E85 ethanol made from waste wood collected as part of forest wildfire prevention programmes. Undergrowth and dead trees that would otherwise be burned are converted into the ethanol.
In addition to reducing dependence on non-renewable petroleum resources, E85 ethanol helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and can reduce smog-forming carbon exhaust emissions.

“Using biofuels, specifically E85, is the most significant thing we can do in the near-term to offset rising future energy demands” says Beth Lowery, GM vice president of Environment, Energy and Safety Policy. ““We believe ethanol used as a fuel, not just as a gasoline additive, is the best near-term alternative to the surging global demand for oil because ethanol is renewable and it significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to gasoline. Best of all, it is available today.”

Over Two Decades of Development

After working alongside ethanol producers to develop fuel formulations to provide optimum performance in vehicle engines, GM began promoting ethanol more than two decades ago. It was the first manufacturer to enable its entire U.S. fleet to operate on E10, a blend of 90 percent gasoline and 10 percent ethanol.

Globally, GM has about 5 million flex-fuel vehicles on the road in the USA, Canada, Europe and Brazil. About 3.5 million are capable of operating on up to 85 percent ethanol (E85). GM currently produces more than 1 million E85 capable vehicles a year globally.

The latest developments that have enabled the H2 to run on E85 ethanol are being carried on to other vehicles in the HUMMER line. The H3 will become E85 capable later in 2009 and in addition, a four cylinder turbo diesel engine is being developed for the H3.

More compact than a HUMMER H3 – 81 inches (2,057 mm) wide, with a 103-inch wheelbase (2,616-mm) – the HX concept is an open-air, two-door off-road vehicle that packs the off-road acumen for which HUMMER has become legendary, along with an easily convertible body that acclimates to varied trail conditions, cargo needs or passenger whims. Its design is based on the ideas developed by a trio of young designers who are new to the HUMMER studio.

“The HX is HUMMER’s vision of an agile, trail-ready, open-air vehicle that fits the lifestyles of everyone who needs or wants to drive off road,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “Of course, it carries exceptional off-road capability and the distinctive styling for which all HUMMERs are known.”

The HX offers an open-air driving experience via a pair of removable roof panels above the driver and front passenger, and a modular, removable rear roof assembly. With the roof panels and roof assembly removed, the HX is transformed into a true convertible.

Easy removal of the roof panels and rear-roof assembly enables quick conversion from a closed vehicle to an open one. The HX also was designed with several roof assemblies, allowing this versatile vehicle to be configured as an SUT (with the roof assembly removed), a stylish slant-back or a traditional, wagon-like design that offers a bit more cargo space.

The HX was shown with a slant-back configuration, wearing a desert-inspired matte olive paint scheme, at the North American International Auto Show. Additional convertible features include:

Removable doors – easily removable pins in the exposed hinges allow the doors to be removed quickly – an appreciated feature of many serious off-roaders

Removable fender flares – attached with quarter-turn quick-release fasteners, the composite fender flares can be quickly removed for additional trail/rock clearance, or if the flare is damaged during off-road driving

“The modular design of the roof and removable body panels mark an evolution of HUMMER’s design aesthetic,” said Carl Zipfel, director of design. “These features demonstrate a deeper understanding of enthusiast desires when it comes to off-road driving – and the slant-back design gives the HX a look all its own.”

Purposeful exterior

The design of the HX was driven by input from three young designers who were new to GM and the HUMMER design studio. As part of their “initiation,” they were charged with developing concept drawings for a smaller, youthful HUMMER and the HX is a direct result of their creativity. The HX concept is based on one of the designers’ original illustrations, but incorporates the best ideas and elements from the other designs.

“HUMMER appeals to young people globally and served as a perfect first assignment for our newest talent,” said Ed Welburn, vice president, Global Design. “Today’s graduates from top design schools are ready to hit the ground running. The HUMMER design challenge gave our newest designers an opportunity to sprint.”

Inside and out, the HX carries a purposeful aesthetic that, from initial sketches to finalized clay models, was refined in only six months.

“This is the HUMMER design language stripped down to its essence,” said David Rojas, creative designer. “The HX has an aggressive appearance and great proportions, with beauty lying in its functional austerity.”

On the exterior, the lightweight theme is evidenced in the appearance of exposed, billet aluminum suspension components that feature CNC-machined lightening relieves, as well as clean, unadorned bodywork and minimal trim. The lightweight theme is taken to its extreme when the roof panels, roof assembly, fender flares and doors are removed.

Classic HUMMER design cues make the HX instantly recognizable, including the round headlamps located in square housings, an upright windshield profile, minimal overhangs, hood vents and prominent air intakes. The air intakes are functional and feed a V-6 engine beneath the hood, while the hood vents are active – they articulate to allow hot underhood air to escape.

And while the headlamps and grille are clearly HUMMER cues, they’ve evolved on the HX with a “chopped circle” motif. The grille slots and headlamps, as well as elements on the interior, have the appearance of circles or ovals that have been clipped at the top and bottom, creating a unique appearance that speaks to the vehicle’s purposeful aesthetic.

“The ‘cut-off’ circles suggest larger, heavy-duty components that were trimmed to fit the compact HX,” said Rojas.

And while it is unadorned by extraneous embellishments, the HX’s exterior is nonetheless outfitted with features that speak to HUMMER’s legacy of technology and innovation, including HID headlamps with focusing rings that adjust automatically when they’re turned on – much like the lens of an auto-focus SLR-type camera. LED technology is used for the front turn signal lamps and taillamps.

Aeronautically inspired interior

From aircraft-inspired seats to integrated, off-road-ready tools, the HUMMER HX’s interior has a beauty that lies in its purposeful intent. It was inspired by the functional and lightweight elements found in aircraft.

“Aeronautical parts are designed to be both lightweight and strong, and that is the feeling exuded by the HX’s cabin,” said Stuart Norris, interior design manager. “There isn’t superfluous trim or decoration – it is a purposeful design that conveys beauty through strength.”

Reinforcing the stripped-to-the-essence feel, the exterior’s matte olive color carries over onto the interior’s largely sheet metal-covered panels. The color is accented with pressed or extruded aluminum components, such as the handles, switches and other necessary parts.

Furthering the aeronautical influence is the instrument panel, which uses an exposed, extruded aluminum cross-vehicle beam as its foundation. On the beam, the instrument cluster and other vital controls are mounted; and it also features a unique, removal top cover that provides significant storage capability.

“The instrument panel is a styling element of the HX, and the removal of the top cover reveals a secondary design that enhances the vehicle’s core design ethic,” said Norris. “With the top cover removed, the interior conveys even more of a basic essence – and the structure beneath the cover is beautiful to those who appreciate finely crafted metal.”

A rubberized floor and ballistic nylon-material covering on the instrument panel and other interior components reinforces the functional aesthetic.

Seating and console details

Like aircraft seats, the HX’s seats are constructed on a lightweight framework with minimal components that feature lightening holes and strength-enhancing cross braces or triangulations. They are mounted on exposed, aircraft-style tracks and trimmed with a weather-resistant neoprene material.

The HX seats four, with a pair of bucket-type seats in the second row. The rear seats mimic the front seats’ design and can be removed to generate more cargo room. All the seats feature a four-point, racing-style safety harness.

The inner seat track on both front seats is located beneath the outer edges of a prominent center console. The console offers exceptional storage capability and houses a unique shifter that mounts low and out of the way when the vehicle is parked – also hiding from sight the engine starter button. It has a spring-loaded cover that pops up when the driver is ready to select a gear.

The console also houses a resting place for phones, MP3 player and iPods or iPhones. In fact, there is no conventional radio in the HX, only integrated speakers. Passengers plug in an iPod, or similar device, to a USB connector to play music in the HX.

“From the console to the cargo area behind the seats, there are simply untold storage possibilities within the HX,” said Norris. “It’s like a four-wheel backpack that’s already fitted with the necessities.”

Gauges and tools

The “cut-off circles” motif of the exterior is seen even more so on the HX’s interior, as the gauge cluster, instrument panel vents and even the steering wheel carry the design element.

A three-element gauge cluster – each of the three instrument “pods” carries the cut-off circle design – delivers crucial driver information in either a highway or off-road mode. This conceptual reconfigurable gauge layout uses LCD screens with multiple layouts, including a navigation system. The nav system features GPS and compass information; and is designed to upload trail information before setting off on an excursion.

The center gauge pod houses a speedometer and tachometer, but changes to a wheel angle indicator when the transmission is in the low position. This off-road mode changeover from the highway mode gives the driver information that is more pertinent to the driver conditions. The trail view of a camera mounted in the rear-view mirror can be displayed on the instrument panel, too.

The off-road mode features of the instrument panel comprise the virtual tools of the HX, while others are mounted for physical use, including a folding shovel, flashlight and first-aid kit. They all carry the “clipped circle” design motif found throughout the vehicle.

Ready for rocks, trails and more

With its compact dimensions, almost no overhangs and grippy 35-inch tires, the HX is ready for all terrains. Like all HUMMER production models, the HX has sturdy, body-on-frame construction, onto which is mounted front and rear independent suspensions.

The front suspension features an electronic-disconnecting stabilizer bar for enhanced maneuverability when driving off road, and the rear suspension is located with Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC)-machined, billet trailing arms. Heavy-duty shocks with piggyback reservoirs were custom-made for the HX by renowned racing shock manufacturer Fox; one is mounted at each wheel position.

A full-time 4WD system pulls the HX over, through and around off-road obstacles. It transfers torque to the front and rear axles, each of which is equipped with a locking differential. The torque meets the trail via custom 35-inch-tall off-road tires that are mounted on a set of custom, bead-lock-style wheels that have a two-tone appearance; dark-painted wheel centers complemented by silver-anodized outer rims.

A complete underbody armor kit, including a front skid plate, powetrain protection and more, protects the HX from wayward rocks and other potentially damaging objects. A power-operated winch is located in the front bumper, and the HX has recovery hooks mounted on the front and rear bumpers, just in case its help is required for wrangling others out of unfortunate off-road situations.

Motivation for the HX comes from an E85 FlexFuel 3.6L SIDI V-6 that is backed by a six-speed automatic transmission. The transmission is teamed with the 4WD system to offer exceptional low-speed traction and crawling capability. Four-wheel-disc brakes provide confident stopping power.

The H3 is the only vehicle of it’s size that can climb a 407mm vertical wall or 60% slope, traverse a 40% side slope and operate in up to 610mm of water, making it a sure-footed choice for Mountain Rescue. To make the vehicle even more effective for Mountain Rescue, HUMMER has enhanced the vehicle with a number of specialist features including grill and roof mounted spotlights to aid visibility in treacherous conditions and rocker panel protection which gives added protection to the lower body and door panels against rock strikes and other strong blows.

Mountain Rescue (England & Wales), whose Patron is HRH Prince William of Wales, relies entirely on charitable donations to survive and is not a government funded emergency service as is commonly thought. The organisation is made up of dedicated volunteers whose selfless and courageous work provides assistance to anyone lost or injured in the UK mountains, fells or moorland. The service is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and operates in all weather conditions.

There are currently 53 teams with 3, 500 team members covering England and Wales who undertake well over 700 rescues every year and the service is free of charge. A typical rescue may involve over 20 team members and take around 6 hours. Mountain Rescue are also called to help at major incidents such as air crashes, both civilian and military, train crashes and floods and were instrumental in assisting the victims of the recent flooding in South Yorkshire, Gloucester and Wiltshire.

Steve Catlin from HUMMER says: “We are delighted to provide such a tangible support to one of the country’s most vital charities. The HUMMER H3 is the ideal vehicle to tackle some of the toughest terrains and we hope it can provide a valuable support to the incredibly brave and courageous work that Mountain Rescue teams undertake throughout the year.”

Andy Simpson from Mountain Rescue (England & Wales) says “As we rely entirely on charitable donations to keep going, the HUMMER H3 will be a fantastic asset to some of our busiest Mountain Rescue teams in 2008”.

After the presentation of the Hummer HX concept car on the Detroit Motor Show we had a pretty good impression of a smaller Hummer, that is coming up. But, while the HX shows more a rough, tough dune-buggy- like vehicle, the production version, of course, will be a lot less exaggarated and more accessible for consuments.

The H4’s design is defined by typical Hummer-design clues, such as the grille, the head- and taillights and the overall boxy design. However, these are all given a modern inerpretation and a more futuristic twist. The design style is very plain, simple and geometric.

The taillights are more inspired by the legendary Hummer H1, simple, but functional. Also the splitted windshield has it’s roots at the H1.

This Hummer is really small. The size would be comparable to a Land Rover Freelander or a Jeep Wrangler. The main target is probably a young generation that is looking for action and fun, combined with prestige, without wanting to spend that much money on a huge H2. An affordable alternative, with, because of the smaller size, better driving charasteristics too.

HUMMER is bringing its unmistakable style and unmatched capability to the truck market with the 2009 H3T. It is based on the architecture of the popular H3, but features a five-passenger crew cab and a separate five-foot-long (1.5 meters) bed.

The H3T is bigger than a midsize truck and smaller than a full-size truck, creating its own niche in the market. It also is infused with the attributes expected of a HUMMER, including exceptional off-road capability and a premium interior that is as functional as it is comfortable.

“With its unique size and HUMMER traits, the H3T is ideal for the customer who works hard and plays harder,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “It offers the combination of truck versatility and HUMMER off-road prowess that delivers customers to the trail in style.”

In addition to its segment-defying size, the H3T also stands apart from other trucks with its signature HUMMER off-road capability. It is the only midsize truck to come standard with full-time four-wheel drive, 32-inch tires and functional skid shields. It also is the only midsize truck to offer front and rear locking differentials, as well as 33-inch tires. The V-8-powered H3T Alpha can tow up to 5,900 pounds (2,676 kg).

The H3T is offered in four trim levels, including five-cylinder models and the popular, V-8-powered H3T Alpha edition. Production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2008 at GM’s Shreveport, La., assembly plant, with vehicles arriving at HUMMER dealerships shortly thereafter. HUMMER will sell the H3T in North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Design

Like all HUMMER models, the H3T has a purposeful design. Its consistent and iconic styling cues include a wide, aggressive stance; a low roofline and high beltline; and large, off-road tires. The wide, seven-slot grille and round headlamps mounted in square housings are signature HUMMER design elements.

“Form following function is at the core of HUMMER’s design philosophy, and the H3T’s capability reflects that mantra,” said Carl Zipfel, HUMMER director of design and former motocross professional. “It has a distinctive look that could be mistaken for nothing except a HUMMER – and it also has the functionality to get the driver to and from the trail in style.”

The crew cab body shares H3 styling and components from the B-pillar forward, while the rear section of the cab and the separate bed are unique to the H3T. The five-foot bed is similar in design and function to GM’s recently redesigned full-size trucks, including an easily removable tailgate and provisions for a bed-rail accessory system. A full-size spare tire is mounted beneath the bed.

The bed is sized to carry a wide range of popular outdoor necessities, from hauling motocross bikes to Baja, a quad to camp, or backcountry gear to the trailhead. One of the industry’s largest portfolios of accessories complements the H3T’s bed, offering different cargo management options to suit all of those lifestyle interests.

Accessories

One of the industry’s broadest portfolios of vehicle accessories has been developed for the H3T. Centered on active lifestyles, items such as removable and lockable bed-mounted storage boxes; an adjustable bike chock that can be used to help secure mountain bikes or motorcycles; and a bed extender make full use of the standard bed-rail cargo management system. A range of additional accessories that improves off-road capabilities, provides passenger entertainment and enhances exterior styling is also available. There are more than 75 HUMMER Genuine Accessories offered.

In addition to the factory-developed accessory portfolio, HUMMER has partnered with top automotive aftermarket companies to develop more than 50 Officially Licensed HUMMER Accessories – a first for the brand. A variety of exterior enhancements, such as a Slant Back Bed Cover, hard tonneau covers and a winch are offered, along with cargo management solutions such as the BedSlide and bed divider, offering countless possibilities to personalize the H3T.

Interior

The H3T’s crew cab cabin offers seating for five adults, with a 60/40-split rear bench seat that folds flat for increased cargo-carrying options. The cabin’s layout is essentially identical to the acclaimed H3 SUV, with premium materials and attention to detail that give the vehicle a functional yet refined aesthetic.

Standard amenities also include air conditioning, power locks, power windows and remote keyless entry. An AM/FM radio with CD is standard and a premium Monsoon audio system is available. XM Satellite Radio also is standard and includes three months of trial service.

HUMMER’s Rear Vision system and a navigation system are available. The Rear Vision system uses a camera mounted on the rear bumper, directly above the trailer hitch mount, to provide a view of objects directly behind the vehicle. Also, the safety and security of OnStar is standard, with Turn-By-Turn Navigation and hands-free Bluetooth connectivity available.

Powertrain

Standard in the H3T is the Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder engine offers an excellent combination of power and efficiency, delivering 242 horsepower (180 kW) at 5600 rpm* and 242 lb.-ft. of torque (328 Nm) at 4600 rpm. It is backed by a five-speed manual transmission or an available four-speed, electronically controlled automatic.

The H3T Alpha’s 5.3L engine is a powerful and efficient member of GM’s legendary small-block V-8 family. It is rated at 300 horsepower (224 kW)* and 320 lb.-ft. of torque (434 Nm).* An aluminum cylinder block is used with the H3 Alpha’s engine. It helps reduce overall mass and maintains a more desirable front-to-rear weight balance.

A Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission is paired with the 5.3L engine. Flat towing is enabled on all H3 and H3T models.

Chassis

The H3T’s frame and suspension system are based on a stretched version of the H3 SUV’s chassis and suspension – the same race-proven design found on Baja 1000-winning stock-class race trucks. The wheelbase measures 134.2 inches (3,409 mm) – 22 inches (86 mm) longer than the H3 SUV.

A ladder-type frame is the truck’s foundation and it has a modular, three-piece design that incorporates fully boxed components for outstanding strength and stiffness. An independent SLA torsion bar front suspension and multileaf Hotchkiss-type rear suspension are used. There are two suspension packages available:

Z85 Heavy-Duty Handling and Trailering – This standard suspension delivers an excellent balance of on-highway comfort and off-road capability. It includes 32-inch all-terrain tires mounted on 16-inch, smoke-color steel wheels, specially tuned heavy-duty shocks and either a 4.56-ratio (3.7L) or 4.10-ratio (5.3L) rear axle.

Off-Road Adventure – Designed for more aggressive off-road performance, this optional suspension package includes taller, 33-inch tires, specifically tuned shocks, locking front and rear differentials, 4.03:1 low-range gearing in the transfer case and industry-leading crawl ratios of either 68.9 with the manual transmission or 56.2 with the automatic.

To support the torque output of the 5.3L V-8, the H3T Alpha’s front differential case is made of cast iron; other models feature an aluminum case. V-8-powered vehicles also receive higher torsion bar rates to support the increased mass and specific shock valving. The chassis and suspensions were validated in real-world testing on off-road trails in Moab, Utah; the Rubicon Trail in California, and other challenging off-road venues.

Off-road capability

The H3T lives up to HUMMER’s legendary off-road reputation, with best-in-class extreme off-road capability. Highlights include:

Ability to climb a 60-percent grade and traverse a 40-percent side slope

Exceptional 10.2-inch (285 mm) ground clearance (with 33-inch tires)

38.7-degree approach angle and 30.1-degree departure angle (with 33-inch tires)

Segment-first available front- and rear-locking differentials

Standard HUMMER Hill Hold Assist for improved hill ascension

“For most lifestyles, there’s almost nothing the H3T can’t handle,” said Walsh. “It’s a truck with HUMMER’s immutable capability.”

Complementing the features that enable the H3T’s impressive off-road prowess are a host of first-class protective elements, including four standard skid shields: a front shield, an oil-pan shield/front-axle shield, a transfer case shield and a fuel tank shield.

Safety

Continuing HUMMER’s tradition of delivering a broad range of safety systems, the H3T offers the following standard features:

Dual frontal air bags with GM’s passenger sensing system

Head curtain side-impact air bags

StabiliTrak electronic vehicle stability control system

Four-wheel ABS with traction control

Tire pressure monitoring system

LATCH rear child seat anchors

OnStar with one-year Safe & Sound service

The H3T was also designed for vehicle-to-vehicle compatibility in the event of a crash, and its rigid body structure provides good passenger protection.

The H3 Black Edition is based on the premium H3 Adventure automatic model and combines a lustrous black exterior and plush black leather interior with a full collection of matt black accessories, including a matt black grille, tubular assist steps, roof crossbars, lockable fuel door, door handles, mirrors and black powder-coated wheels.

Twenty five of the H3 Black Edition models will additionally feature the large electric sliding sunroof which has proved a popular option. Among the array of standard interior fittings is a fully integrated Kenwood HUMMER Navigation system.

The value to the customer of the extras fitted as standard is approximately € 6.150,- including VAT. Yet the H3 Black Edition will carry a price tag only € 1.250,- higher than a Adventure edition on which it is based – resulting in a customer saving of € 4.900,-. (Calculation based on German pricing. Consumer price may vary in case of different VAT rules).

The HUMMER H3 Black Edition is designed to do much more than make fifty lucky customers across Europe feel very happy. It is another example of the HUMMER spirit that promotes the iconic design, but also makes it clear that, with H3 prices starting at € 49.950,-, the HUMMER H3 is much greater value than many think.

The H3 Black Edition is one of a series of exciting initiatives created by Kroymans HUMMER Europe, the European importer of HUMMER vehicles. The organization, situated at Breukelen in the Netherlands, has been combined with a strong new European dealer network with more than 40 outlets, reflecting the rapid growth of the HUMMER brand in Europe as well as in America. The new central organization provides yet more benefits for HUMMER customers.

HUMMER’s relationship with the American Red Cross began in 2004, with a commitment to provide the organization with 72 vehicles that includes a combination of H1, H2 and H3 models, as well as $100,000 each year from the GM Foundation.

Today, there are 19 HUMMER models in service with the Red Cross. These vehicles have been used in response to many disasters, including areas hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; flooding in Orange County, New York; and wildfires in California. The vehicles also support chapters in delivery of local programs and services.

“For more than 100 years, American Red Cross chapters have been at the frontline delivering aid and assistance to communities in times of crisis,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER General Manager “HUMMER and the GM Foundation are proud to support this mission with the purpose-built H2 and H3. The unparalleled capabilities of a HUMMER make them the ideal disaster response vehicle.”

“We are grateful to HUMMER and the GM Foundation for their continued generosity and longstanding support,” said Kathleen Loehr, interim senior vice president of Development for the American Red Cross. “Their donations of vehicles and financial assistance have helped enable our chapters to do extraordinary things in their communities every day.”

To help make communication and navigation easier for Red Cross volunteers, each donated H2 and H3 will be equipped with complimentary OnStar services, including hands-free calling minutes and OnStar’s “Directions and Connections” plan. It provides drivers with driving directions, and help finding hotels, gas, and other destinations. It also includes air bag deployment notification to OnStar advisors, remote vehicle diagnostics, remote door unlock and other emergency help. The donated vehicles will also include GM’s Major Guard Protection extended service coverage.

HUMMER Alpha models represent the top in performance, capability and comfort. The H1 Alpha was the first of these ultimate HUMMERs, and like the H3 Alpha, it offered a more powerful engine as well as unique styling and comfort features.

The H3 is the newest model to carry the Alpha flag, and represents HUMMER’s first Alpha model engineered in conjunction with GM Performance Division.

Award-winning interior and safety enhancements

The H3 Alpha shares the same widely admired interior as all H3 models, including detail revisions and enhancements that have been implemented across the lineup. New child safety locks for the rear doors and easier-to-use power window switches were introduced during the ’07 model year and reflect customers’ input.

“Details matter, and our customers told us these details were particularly important, so we updated the H3 lineup to address them,” said Walsh.

Also new for the H3 Alpha and the entire 2008 H3 lineup are standard head curtain side air bags; they were previously optional. Additional standard safety features now found on all H3 models include:

StabiliTrak electronic stability control system

Four-wheel antilock brakes with traction control

Dual front air bags with Passenger Sensing System

Tire pressure monitoring system

Vehicle-to-vehicle crash compatibility

LATCH rear child seat anchors

HUMMER’s Rear Vision system and a navigation system are available. The Rear Vision system uses a camera mounted near the rear bumper to provide a view of objects directly behind the vehicle. Also, the safety and security of OnStar is standard, and its new Turn-By-Turn Navigation feature is available.

Powertrain details

The H3 Alpha’s 5.3L engine is a powerful and efficient member of GM’s legendary small-block V-8 family. It is rated at 295 horsepower (224 kW)* and 317 lb.-ft. of torque (438 Nm)*; and is similar to the small-block V-8 found in the Chevy Silverado, which was named the 2007 Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show.

“For jobs such as towing personal watercraft up a mountain to the lake, the small-block V-8’s torque performs with effortless ease and little impact on fuel mileage,” said Christopher Meagher, assistant chief engineer of small-block V-8 truck engines. “The 5.3L engine greatly broadens the H3’s towing capability.”

Effortless highway driving also is an attribute of the 5.3L V-8, which enables 0-60 mph performance of approximately eight seconds.

“All of the powertrain options in the H3 lineup deliver performance suited to different driving styles and needs,” said Meagher. “But when it comes to certain tasks such as towing, there is sometimes no substitute for a V-8 engine.”

An aluminum cylinder block is used with the H3 Alpha’s engine. It helps reduce overall mass and maintains a more desirable front-to-rear weight balance. Like all of GM’s small-block V-8 engines, highlights include:

Deep-skirt cylinder block with cross-bolted main caps

High-flow cylinder heads

Electronic throttle control

58X ignition system

E67 32-bit controller

Polymer-coated pistons with full-floating wrist pins

Returnless fuel system

Lightweight valvetrain

Steel camshaft

Low-restriction air intake system

GM’s small-block V-8 engines are engineered to meet today’s more stringent emissions standards. In fact, the H3 Alpha’s V-8 engine beats the deadline for new, U.S. federal emissions standards by a year. And compared to truck engines of a decade ago, the small-block engine family is approximately 90 percent cleaner. Cast iron exhaust manifolds matched with four close-coupled catalytic converters help reduce cold-start emissions, which is the largest source of vehicle emissions.

A Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission is paired with the H3 Alpha’s V-8 engine. And, as with all H3 models, flat-towing is enabled.

“The 2008 HUMMER H2 represents a major step in the evolution of this iconic vehicle,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “From performance to comfort to safety and overall refinement, the new H2 lineup delivers more of what customers expect from HUMMER; they will be especially impressed with the new, more refined interior.”

2008 HUMMER H2

HUMMER revealed the 2008 H2 at the New York Auto Show. The powertrain, interior and exterior changes also are included on the H2 SUT. The ’08 H2 and H2 SUT go on sale later this year.

The new powertrain combination consists of a 6.2L all-aluminum small-block V-8 engine, rated at 393 horsepower (293 kW)* – an increase of about 20 percent over the previous engine – and a Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission. Performance-optimizing engine technologies, such as variable valve timing, and the six-speed’s wide gear ratios, including a “tall” overdrive gear, enable the improved performance and efficiency over previous models.

“This is one of those rare instances where enhanced performance is matched with improved efficiency,” said Walsh. “More power in the H2 helps make highway maneuvers, such as entering from a freeway on-ramp, feel effortless while simultaneously bolstering towing capability.”

All-new, luxury-appointed interior

While drivers will feel the ’08 H2’s improved performance on the road, they’ll appreciate it more while experiencing it in the all-new interior. It features a completely redesigned instrument panel, new seats – including a full third-row seat for two passengers– new door trim panels, new controls, new rear-seat heating/air conditioning system, new rear-seat overhead DVD entertainment system and a new family of premium radios.

2008 HUMMER H2

“The new interior delivers a refined, premium feel while maintaining HUMMER’s trademark ruggedness,” said Dennis Burke, interior designer. “Everything from the flushness of the controls to the feel of the materials exudes craftsmanship in the H2’s new interior, while the fine details, like leather seat piping, create a consistent, premium interior design style across the entire HUMMER family.”

Seats in the H2 have a new, chiseled appearance and offer improved comfort. In fact, HUMMER engineers focused on every detail to improve interior comfort. For example, the front seat safety belts are now mounted to the vehicle’s B-pillars rather than to the seats themselves. This change enabled engineers uncompromised comfort tuning for the seats. Front seat safety belt pretensioners are new, too, and are standard.

Complementing the new seats are new door trim panels and an all-new instrument panel and six-gauge instrument cluster that features a more refined appearance and better tolerances. In fact, the new interior is designed with interior gap tolerances of one millimeter or less. Soft-touch materials and new, more tactile controls enhance the feeling of craftsmanship. A new center stack houses the climate controls and a new family of GM radios – including a standard premium Bose audio system and an available surround sound system. The instrument panel also features new vents that enhance heating or cooling comfort throughout the vehicle – particularly for the second- and third-row seats.

2008 HUMMER H2 OnStar System

Numerous available comfort and convenience features are either new or carried over into the ’08 H2, such as a new rear-seat overhead DVD entertainment system, a navigation system, a rear-view camera system and heated windshield washer fluid. OnStar and XM Satellite Radio are standard.

The ’08 H2 also offers a remote starting system that enables the vehicle’s interior to be heated or cooled prior to driving.

Driving experience

The heart of the ’08 H2 is a new, 6.2L V-8 engine that uses variable valve timing technology to maximize performance and fuel efficiency. It is rated at 393 horsepower (293 kW)* and 415 lb.-ft. of torque (574 Nm)*. The engine also features lightweight materials, including an aluminum cylinder block, which helps reduce the vehicle’s overall mass. The 6.2L V-8’s technologically advanced features also help it meet new federal emissions standards a year before mandatory implementation.

A new six-speed Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled automatic transmission backs the 6.2L engine. The six-speed automatic has a wide, 6.04:1 overall ratio – including two overdrive gears – that helps deliver an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy. Also, the 6L80 has a “tap up/tap down” capability that allows the driver to manually select upshifts and downshifts with a button on the column shifter.

2008 Vortec 6.2L V8 VVT (L92)

The new powertrain combination helps the 2008 H2 and H2 SUT deliver an additional 1,500 pounds (680 kg) in towing capacity – an increase from 6,500 pounds (2,948 kg) to 8,000 pounds (3,629 kg). A host of additional powertrain revisions also contributes to the H2’s improved performance and efficiency, including:

Larger-capacity cooling system complements larger, more powerful engine

Electric engine cooling fans reduce “drag” on engine, enabling more horsepower

Regulated voltage control maximizes fuel economy by charging electrical components only when necessary

New LAN electrical architecture is more efficient and uses less electrical energy

Standard 3.73 rear axle ratio

Off-road acumen also was enhanced with the new powertrain system. The 6L80 transmission’s tap up/tap down feature provides more control on grades and it offers automatic grade braking. It also improves the off-road crawl ratio to approximately 39:1 – an improvement of about 20 percent. The transfer case is improved in the ’08 H2; it is stronger with improved performance. A new traction control system also is standard, which helps ensure sure-footed traction in most driving conditions.

Driving performance off the road or on is enhanced by a revised steering gear that has a quicker ratio and improved on-center returnability. The driving experience also is quieter and more refined, thanks to new, tuned air intake and exhaust systems.

Hydra-Matic 2008 6L80 (MYC) Six Speed RWD Automatic Transmission

Safety standard

Complementing the H2 lineup’s performance and comfort changes are enhancements to the safety system. They include several new standard features:

Roof rail head curtain side air bags for first-, second- and third-row passengers with rollover sensing system

Safety belt pretensioners (first-row seats)

Electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology

New traction control system

Tire pressure monitoring system

Also new is a panic brake assist feature – the first application for a full-size GM truck or SUV – which detects emergency braking situations and maintains maximum brake pressure to help stop the vehicle more quickly and with more control. It is a standard feature on all H2 models. Also, the standard OnStar system now offers the optional Turn-By-Turn navigation system. Additional optional features that contribute to a safer driving experience include HUMMER’s Rear Vision System – a rearview camera system – and a navigation system.

Exterior enhancements

All 2008 H2 models are distinguished from previous models with functional changes that maintain HUMMER’s instantly recognizable design identify. The iconic, seven-slot grille features larger openings and the lower grille also is enlarged, accommodating the cooling needs of the more powerful 6.2L V-8 engines. The lower bumpers on ’08 models are painted silver (previous models had black lower bumpers).

2008 HUMMER H2

The soul of a HUMMER

While the ‘08 H2 is offered with a new powertrain and interior, its foundation remains the same: a fully welded ladder-type frame that features a modular, three-piece design incorporating a number of hydroformed components. This design delivers outstanding strength, stiffness and dimensional accuracy. The H2 has short overhangs for radical approach and departure angles, and exceptional ground clearance for minimal impact on trails. Standard 17-inch wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension and a five-link rear suspension provide superior handling, carrying and towing capability. The solid rear axle ensures durable sure-footedness, particularly in tight, off-road situations. Also standard is underbody protection and rocker protection. These elements help the H2 deliver on HUMMER’s mantra of capability, including traveling through streams 24 inches (508 mm) deep, climbing 16-inch (406-mm) steps and rocks and paddling through deep sand or snow.

A new, four-channel anti-lock braking/traction control system (ABS/TCS) provides optimum control on slippery surfaces. In addition, the ABS can detect and adjust its braking capabilities to rough off-road surfaces like gravel and potholes. The TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel, if necessary, and more wheel slip in a second traction control mode for sand and desert racing conditions.

A self-leveling rear air spring suspension system is available for extreme off-road and towing requirements.

H2 SUT – maximum utility and fun

Like the H2, the H2 SUT carries passengers and cargo, but does so with a twist: an open cargo bed enables convenient storage of larger items. When cargo requires more space, a 4-foot by 6-foot (122-cm by 244-cm) pickup bed can be created by powering the rear window into the Midgate, then folding forward the Midgate and rear seat. With four passengers on board, the bulkhead at the rear of the SUT’s passenger compartment remains upright, still providing ample cargo-carrying capacity.

2008 HUMMER H2

Practicality aside, the H2 SUT also offers an open, invigorating driving experience. At the push of a single button, the driver can lower all four side windows and the rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT a truly open-air feeling.

H2’s power is derived from the standard Vortec 6.0L V-8 that generates 242 kW (325 horsepower) at 5,200 rpm and 488 Nm (365 lb.-ft.) of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65 four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. H2 also features a standard, powertrain-integrated Borg-Warner two-speed electrically controlled full-time 4WD system. It’s capable of further reducing H2’s gear ratios by 2.64:1, when necessary, for highly controlled obstacle climbing.

A Bosch four-channel anti-lock braking/traction control system (ABS/TCS) provides optimum control on slippery surfaces. In addition, the ABS can detect and adjust its braking capabilities to rough off-road surfaces like gravel and potholes. The TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel, if necessary, and more wheel slip in the traction control mode for sand and desert racing conditions.

H2 and H2 SUT safety, comfort and convenience features include standard frontal air bags; four-way adjustable headrests, armrests and seat-mounted lap-shoulder belts for front passengers; lap and B-pillar-mounted shoulder belts for second-row outboard passengers and a seat-mounted lap-shoulder belt for the center passenger; and a seat-mounted lap-shoulder belt and adjustable headrest for the optional third-row seat.

Styling matches uncompromising off-road ability

The H2 and H2 SUT are instantly recognizable and could be mistaken for nothing other than HUMMER models. The look and feel conveys the sense of power, authority and complete control that buyers seek.

H2’s square-shaped body and upright windshield and windows combine to create significant interior room. The vertical glass opens up a broader front and wider side view. In a nod to the functional aspect of design, exposed components such as hood lift handles, hood latches and fasteners give H2’s appearance an individually component-assembled quality. As they do on H1, exposed components and mechanical elements are truly functional and shout ruggedness.

Luxury meets ruggedness in H2’s interior

H2’s rugged exterior gives way to a luxurious interior. It begins with standard Medium Wheat leather seats with eight-way power adjustment for the front seat cushions and backs. Also standard is a memory feature for the driver’s seat that allows two drivers to select and set their preferred positions. The leather seats include heated seat backs and cushions with three temperature settings for the front occupants. Heated cushions serve to keep second-row occupants comfortable. For maximum flexibility, the second-row seats can be individually
folded. For maximum comfort, they feature a high-back design. With the SUV, a single-passenger seat is available for the third row, giving the SUV six-passenger capacity.

H2 SUT

Like its H2 SUV sibling, the SUT carries passengers and cargo with comfort and ease. With four passengers on board, the bulkhead at the rear of the SUT’s passenger compartment remains upright, still providing ample cargo-carrying capacity.

When cargo requires more space, a 122 cm by 244 cm (4 foot by 6 foot) pickup bed can be created by powering the rear window into the Midgate, then folding forward the Midgate and rear seat.

At the push of a single button, the driver can lower all four side windows and the rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT an open-air feeling, much like driving a convertible.

Of course, the H2 SUT is an H2 at heart, and the H2 is every bit the truck that first captured the market’s fancy in 2002. It’s also a HUMMER first and foremost. That means it’s capable of traveling through streams 508 mm (20 in.) deep, climbing 406 mm (16’in.) steps and rocks, paddling through deep sand and outdistancing competitors in high-speed desert runs.

HUMMER H2 VICTORY RED LIMITED EDITION ARRIVES AT DEALERS IN FEBRUARY
HUMMER is expanding its product lineup with a new “Victory Red” limited-edition H2. This special edition is available in SUV and SUT versions, and maintains HUMMER’s trademark bold design and unmatched off-road capability. The exclusive models arrive at dealerships in February with SUV pricing at $66,030 MSRP and SUT pricing at $65,575 MSRP.

“The Victory Red edition offers HUMMER enthusiasts a distinctive new choice and unique features,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “The package brings exclusivity to the SUV and SUT marketplace, and rounds out the 2007 H2 lineup.”

The 2007 limited edition includes all the standard features of the H2, along with a unique Victory Red exterior, rear-vision camera system and uplevel premium appearance package.

The package features body-color fender moldings and rocker moldings with an integrated assist step, and a lower-profile, roof-mounted light bar with integral lamps. Chrome hood handles, hood latches, hood louver, exterior side vents, rear D-rings and fuel filler door, and 17-inch flangeless chrome wheels complete the exterior. Inside, the limited edition has new carbon fiber appearance accents.

The rear-vision system features a 3.5-inch full-color display housed in the rearview mirror, which receives its picture from a universal rear-mounted camera. When the vehicle is shifted into Reverse, the video display automatically deploys from the side of the mirror, providing the driver an image of the area behind the vehicle both day and night. The display is in the driver’s natural line of sight, and the slide-out display won’t compromise a driver’s traditional field of view or create distracting glare. The screen then retracts back into the mirror when the vehicle is shifted out of Reverse.

In addition, the special edition has a heated windshield wiper system with warm fluid that removes snow, ice and debris, and a rear-seat DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens and wireless headphones.

The limited edition also carries GM’s five year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty and HUMMER’s premium four year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

For 2007, H3 receives a new engine: the Vortec 3.7L I-5 with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing. This inline five-cylinder engine offers an excellent combination of power and efficiency, delivering 242 horsepower (180 kW) at 5600 rpm* and 242 lb.-ft. of torque (328 Nm) at 4600 rpm.

Unparalleled capability

The H3 packs trademark HUMMER capability into a midsize package. Compared to the H2, the H3 is 16.9 inches (429 mm) shorter in length, 6 inches (152 mm) shorter in height and 6.5 inches (165 mm) narrower. Roughly the same length as a midsize family sedan, H3 comfortably navigates city traffic and fits nicely in parking garages.

Like all HUMMERS, the H3 delivers exceptional rock crawling and climbing performance. The H3 was engineered for off-road leadership among midsize SUVs. The heart of this capability is its electronically controlled four-wheel drive system. The system features traction control, underbody shielding, an optional rear locking differential and StabiliTrak stability control. H3 offers two tire packages, a Goodyear 32-inch, all-terrain tire and Bridgestone 33-inch off-road tire, both larger than those found on any other midsize SUV. Also available is a specific off-road tire for the H3X, an 18-inch 265/65R tire.

Among its off-road credentials, the H3 can ford 16 inches (407 mm) of water at 20 mph or 24-inch (610 mm) streams at a 5-mph pace, climb 16-inch (407 mm) vertical steps and rocks, make its way through deep sand and race easily over sandy surfaces.

H3’s more maneuverable size provides advantages, such as a 37-foot (11.3 m) turning circle, about the same as a typical compact car, making easy work of parking lot maneuvers and tight turns when off-roading. The 9.1-inch (231 mm) ground clearance and maximum breakover angle of 25 degrees (with 33-inch tires) both make it possible to clear large obstacles in off-road driving. Serious off-road performance is also aided by the maximum approach angle of 40 degrees and maximum departure angle of 37 degrees. These approach and departure angles permit the H3 to drive into a hole and back out again, without getting hung up in the front or rear.

The H3 also provides the refinement, comfort and convenience required for enjoyable on-road driving as well. It offers premium options such as heated leather seats, a large electric express open/close sliding sunroof, a DVD-based navigation radio and numerous customized accessories.

Iconic HUMMER design

H3’s bold looks make it readily identifiable as a HUMMER. Features such as its wide track width, short overhangs and huge tires provide stability, outstanding ground clearance and quick rock-climbing capability in off-road driving.

The H3’s flat, chiseled surfaces; upright windshield and windows; signature seven-slot louvered grille; round headlamps housed inside square openings; and pronounced fender flares are all pure HUMMER. Power and strength emanate from its cube-like metal billet form.

The H3’s interior is inviting and modern, blending premium cues with world-class craftsmanship. Upscale touches include a perforated, leather-wrapped and stitched steering wheel and automatic transmission shift handle; bright-accented instrumentation; brushed, machine-finished trim plates; chrome door release handles; chrome bezel for the automatic transmission shifter; and a chrome H3 emblem in the center of the steering wheel.

—-

Design

HUMMER design is iconic and the H3’s looks make it instantly identifiable as nothing other than a HUMMER. It’s a matter of form following function. Features like its wide track, short overhangs and huge tyres provide stability, outstanding ground clearance and quick rock-climbing capability in off-road driving.

The H3 features the hallmark HUMMER design with flat, chiselled surfaces, upright flat windshield and windows, high metal-to-glass proportions, signature seven-slot louvered grille and pronounced fender flares. Power and strength emanate from its cube-like metal billet form.

In addition to the keynote HUMMER features, a number of new style items set the H3 apart. They are exclusive to the H3 to enable global homologation. Additional fender flares cover the tyres, which must be inside the bodywork in some countries and the external radii were changed on mirrors, front fascias and tow hooks, while the interior architecture of the A-pillar is also amended.

Headlights have an oval design with a chrome surround. Clear lenses with amber bulbs, specially designed side blinker lamps and a unique tail lamp design were also required to meet international lighting requirements. A headlamp leveling system is standard and a redesigned rear bumper with standard trailer hitch and enlarged step pad, is combined with a new Rear Protection Under Run Device and rear fog lamps.

Large tyres are another staple of HUMMER style, clearly signalling its capability. The H3 features standard P265/75R16 Goodyear Wrangler RT/S all-terrain tyres, which have a 32-inch outside diameter.

A large rear swing gate encompasses fixed glass, standard rear wiper, defogger and full-size spare tire. The swing gate-mounted spare with lockable spare tyre cover embossed with HUMMER, is a HUMMER first and enhances interior cargo space.

Among other exterior design highlights are a highly protective aluminium front skid plate; hefty, stamped-steel front and rear bumper bars; a composite front fascia, with “HUMMER” moulded into the driver’s side; standard front tow hooks; and a welded-on rear bumper recovery hook.

The HUMMER H3 is available with the choice of seven external colours: Black, Ocean Blue Metallic, Yellow, Birch White, Lunar Gray Metallic, Victory Red or Arctic Silver Metallic.

The interior design of the HUMMER H3 represents the start of an entirely new design theme for HUMMER. From the outset it was designed to be an everyday driving vehicle. That strongly influenced the design, with comfort and intuitive function being the key factors.

There is generous front and rear headroom, 1.031 mm and 1,013 mm respectively. The H3’s interior design is expressive and refined with a distinct HUMMER influence. The individual front bucket seats with drop down arm rest can be specified with optional heating.

The interior fittings are marked by tight gaps and flush surfaces, and the tone is lightened with the use of bright trim accents and the use of colour. Headliner systems are trimmed in a tailored, tight-weave fabric that is always a light neutral value to enhance the perception of roominess in the vehicle. The pillar mouldings are finished in the same colour, but with a subtle, fine-speckled plastic and a complimentary texture designed to harmonise with the headliner.

H3 customers have a total of five choices for interior colour combinations – All Ebony and Ebony with Light Cashmere seat cushion inserts for the standard cloth seats. All Ebony with Pewter piping, Ebony with Morocco-toned seat cushion inserts and piping, or light Cashmere with Ebony piping, for the leather trim.

The centre stack, flush fit to the instrument panel, is finished in a material called Nissha. This new material carries a metallic finish for a premium look, but is resistant to light reflection and smudges for excellent wear. An emerging material for automobiles, Nissha has previously been used mostly in the electronics industry. This material is also the main component used in the gauge cluster. The instrument panel is positioned to ensure an optimal view of the road, with easy-to-read liquid crystal displays and a driver information centre which includes four levels of controls arranged horizontally for easy use.

Other premium touches include a perforated, leather-wrapped and stitched steering wheel and automatic transmission shift handle. The door release handles and automatic transmission shifter bezel are chromed. The large 916 mm x 624 mm power sunroof offered on the H3 can be opened, closed or set to the “vent” (tilt) position with a single control.

The standard easy-opening, one-piece swing gate makes for convenient loading and unloading of the 1,577 liter maximum cargo capacity (2nd-row seat down). With the second row of 60:40 split folding seats in position, capacity remains a generous 835 liter.

Tough, durable materials protect cargo area sidewalls, while the rear storage area utilises Tufflor rubberised flooring. This material is superior to traditional carpets, mats or rubber floors in its resistance to scratches and damage.

—-

Engine and Transmission

The new HUMMER H3 is powered by the inline five-cylinder Vortec 3.7-litre engine, fitted with dual overhead cams, electronic throttle control and variable valve timing. Specifically designed for this type of vehicle, it delivers 180 kW (244 horsepower) at 5600 rpm and 328 Nm of torque at 4600 rpm. 90% of the engine’s torque available between 2000 rpm and 6000 rpm. The H3 reaches a peak fuel economy of up to 11.0 l/100km.

The Vortec engine provides the H3 with excellent power and control for off-roading, with comfortable and capable on-road characteristics, including acceleration that equals the V-8 powered H2 in most driving conditions. The Vortec engine’s advanced technologies, including counter-rotating balance shafts, help minimize noise, vibration and harshness.

Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) with Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection (SEFI) eliminates throttle cable and provides outstanding throttle response both on- and off-road. Coil-on-Plug ignition provides high energy, a precise spark for low emissions and also eliminates spark plug wires. An Oil Life Monitoring System calculates oil life based on a number of variables, including engine speed, operating temperature, load or rpm variance and period of operation at any given load and temperature to extend service intervals.

H3 is the first HUMMER to offer the choice of a manual or an automatic transmission. In addition to the Hydra-Matic 4L60 electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission, a five-speed manual transmission, the first-ever for HUMMER, is a fun option for the serious off-road performance crowd, as it offers the ultimate driver control.

At the heart of the HUMMER H3’s capability is its electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system which augments both the manual or automatic gearboxes. The Borg-Warner two-speed electrically controlled full-time 4WD system has a robust 2.64:1 low-range gear reduction for highly controlled, off-road obstacle climbing. It can also be optionally specified with an ultra-low 4.03:1 ratio for ultimate obstacle-climbing control. This is the most aggressive transfer ratio that GM has ever put on a production vehicle.

For 2007, the H2 SUT unveils a new Glacier Blue limited edition with a rear-vision camera system. The package features body-color fender moldings and rocker moldings with an integrated assist step, and a lower-profile roof-mounted lightbar with integral lamps. Chrome hood handles, hood latches, hood louver, exterior side vents, rear D-rings and fuel filler door, and 17-inch flangeless chrome wheels complete the exterior. Inside, the limited edition has new carbon fiber appearance accents. The exterior hue is a light, silvery blue.

In addition, the Glacier Blue limited edition has a heated windshield wiper system with warm fluid on demand that removes snow, ice and debris, and a rear-seat DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens, each with individual DVD-players and wireless headphones. It debuts in late summer as a 2007 model, and will be available in the United States , Canada , Mexico and the Middle East.

Other changes for all 2007 H2 SUT model includes an optional rear-vision camera system and a new rear-seat DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens.

The rear-vision system features a 3.5-inch full-color display housed in the rearview mirror, which receives its picture from a universal rear mounted camera. When the vehicle is put into Reverse, the video display automatically deploys from the side of the mirror, providing the driver an image of the area behind the vehicle both day and night. The display is in the driver’s natural line of sight, and the slide-out display won’t compromise a driver’s traditional field of view or create distracting glare. The screen then retracts back into the mirror when the vehicle is shifted out of Reverse.

H2 at heart, HUMMER in the soul

Every H2 starts with a fully welded ladder-type frame that features a modular, three-piece design incorporating a number of hydroformed components. The result is outstanding strength, stiffness and dimensional accuracy. Ensuring on-road ride comfort and control, as well as off-road capability, is H2’s standard independent front torsion bar and five-link coil spring rear suspension. The solid rear axle ensures durable sure-footedness, particularly in tight, off-road situations. A self-leveling rear air spring suspension system is available for severe off-road and towing requirements.

The H2 SUT has short overhangs for radical approach and departure angles and exceptional ground clearance for minimal impact on trails. The 17-inch wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension and five-link rear suspension provide superior handling, carrying and towing capability.

H2 SUT’s power is derived from the standard Vortec 6.0L V-8 that generates 325 horsepower (242 kW) at 5200 rpm and 365 lb.-ft. of torque (495 Nm) at 4000 rpm. The engine is mated to a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65 four-speed rear-wheel drive electronically controlled automatic overdrive transmission. H2 SUT also features a standard, powertrain-integrated Borg-Warner two-speed electrically controlled full-time 4WD system. It’s capable of further reducing H2’s gear ratios by 2.64:1 when necessary, for highly controlled obstacle climbing.

A Bosch four-channel anti-lock braking/traction control system (ABS/TCS) provides optimum control on slippery surfaces. In addition, the ABS can detect and adjust its braking capabilities to rough off-road surfaces like gravel and potholes. The TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel, if necessary, and more wheel slip in a second traction control mode for sand and desert racing conditions.

—-

Styling matches uncompromising off-road ability

Daring and attention-getting is how the H2 SUT’s exterior design is often described. The H2 SUT is instantly recognizable as belonging to a highly exclusive brand at the top of its class in off-road performance. The look and feel conveys the sense of power, authority and complete control that buyers seek.

H2 SUT’s square-shaped body and upright windshield and windows combine to create significant interior room. The vertical glass opens up a broader front and wider side view. In a nod to the functional aspect of design, exposed components, like hood lift handles, hood latches and fasteners, give H2 SUT’s appearance an individually component-assembled quality. Exposed components and mechanical elements are functional and convey ruggedness.

Luxury meets ruggedness in H2’s interior

H2 SUT’s rugged exterior gives way to a luxurious interior. It begins with standard leather seats with eight-way power adjustment for the front seat cushions and backs. Also standard is a memory feature for the driver’s seat that allows two drivers to select and set their preferred positions. The leather seats include heated seat backs and cushions with three temperature settings for the front occupants. Heated cushions serve to keep second-row occupants comfortable. For maximum flexibility, the second-row seats can be individually folded. With the SUV, a single-passenger seat is available for the third row, giving the SUV six-passenger capacity.

The H2 SUT carries passengers and cargo with comfort and ease. With four passengers on board, the bulkhead at the rear of the SUT’s passenger compartment remains upright, still providing ample cargo-carrying capacity.

When cargo requires more space, a 4-foot by 6-foot (122-cm by 244-cm) pickup bed can be created by powering the rear window into the Midgate, then folding forward the Midgate and rear seat.

Practicality aside, there’s a side to the H2 SUT that’s just plain fun. At the push of a single button, the driver can lower all four side windows and the rear window. Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT a truly open-air feeling.

Of course, the H2 SUT is an H2 at heart, and the H2 is every bit the truck that first captured the market’s fancy in 2002. It’s also a HUMMER first and foremost. That means it’s capable of traveling through streams 20 inches (508 mm) deep, climbing 16-inch (406-mm) steps and rocks, paddling through deep sand and outdistancing competitors in high-speed desert runs.

The beauty of a HUMMER is the ability to go pretty much anywhere. And on road it’s not a problem if the driver is unsure of how to get there, thanks to the available Navigation Radio. With the push of a button, the navigation operation will instantly map routes with 2-D and 3-D full-color map views on a 5.8-inch (147-mm) display screen, making navigation on highways and streets effortless.

Also available is XM Satellite Radio (continental U.S. only), which provides more than 120 coast-to-coast, digital-quality channels of original commercial-free music and premier news, sports and talk as well as advanced traffic and weather information for select major metropolitan areas nationwide. Consumers can subscribe to the basic service for $12.99 a month. In addition, GM customers with GMAC financing can choose to include the XM subscription in their car payments.

H2 SUT safety, comfort and convenience features include standard frontal air bags; four-way adjustable headrests, arm rests and seat-mounted lap-shoulder belts for front passengers; lap and C pillar-mounted shoulder belts for second-row outboard passengers and a seat-mounted lap-shoulder belt for the center passenger; and a seat-mounted lap-shoulder belt and adjustable headrest for the optional third-row seat.

The OnStar safety and security system is standard on every H2 SUT, and features OnStar Dual-mode (analog-digital) equipment. OnStar’s digital equipment also includes enhanced hands-free voice recognition capabilities including more intuitive continuous digit dialing and improved voice recognition accuracy. OnStar is the leading provider of in-vehicle safety, security and information services in the United States and Canada . Using the GPS satellite network and wireless technology, OnStar features core safety services and OnStar Hands-Free Calling that allows drivers to make and receive voice-activated phone calls using an externally mounted antenna for greater reception. For more information about OnStar, see the OnStar Overview in the Product Information Guide Corporate Book.

That’s certainly the case with the dynamic H3T, a midsize truck that infuses all of HUMMER’s military-derived DNA into an efficient, refined package and carves a new niche in the midsize truck market.

“The H3T concept expresses a vision of the potential of future HUMMER vehicles, targeted at enthusiasts who desire the HUMMER image and capability, but in a smaller, non-SUV configuration,” said Clay Dean, design director for small trucks and HUMMER. “It also provides a visual clue to the evolution of HUMMER’s design.”

Innovative features abound in the H3T: The pickup box incorporates side-access doors, along with drop-down assist steps that also double as weather-tight storage compartments. The H3T’s unique tailgate forms an unbroken load surface when down, contributing to the H3T’s versatility.

There’s also a large, power-operated folding canvas sunroof and drop-down rear window that combine to offer an open-air driving experience.

There wouldn’t be a HUMMER badge on the H3T if it didn’t have the capability to dive into twisty terrain that would leave lesser 4x4s spinning their wheels. Its wheels-at-the-corners stance, along with 34-inch-tall tires and 11.5 inches of ground clearance, gives the H3T a 51-degree approach angle and a 50-degree departure angle – critical measures on HUMMER’s internal “off-road performance metric” of capabilities.

And while the H3T delivers on the promise of its familial looks, it does so with a youthful, masculine flair.

“Regardless if you’re a man or woman, it brings out a rebellious side to you that harks back to younger days,” said Dean. “It’s an irreverent vehicle – a bad boy in a black tie.”

Riding on a 118.6-inch wheelbase and measuring 74.5 inches wide, the H3T embodies the classic HUMMER proportions – wide stance, low roofline, and wheels at the corners – that have made the H1 and H2 instantly recognizable around the world. And like the H1 truck, the H3T incorporates the cab and bed in a single structure for enhanced strength and an integrated appearance.

“This is a different size vehicle, but it’s a HUMMER throughout,” said Dean. “The cab configuration is personal and the smaller size makes the H3T more manageable and less intimidating to some drivers than larger vehicles. The smaller size also gives the H3T a more sporting and dynamic driving sensation.”

Design collaboration

To complement the H3T’s solid structure with a “go anywhere, do anything” aesthetic, GM and Nike designers collaborated on several key aspects of the vehicle’s design. The H3T’s tires evolved from discussions between GM Design and Nike Design regarding the question of off-road performance footwear influencing off-road performance tires. The result is the innovative ACG TA tire, which addresses multiple traction environments with sand paddles, traction pads and multiple durometers of rubber defined by different-color breakouts – much like the design of Nike’s ACG trail and hiking shoes. BFGoodrich partnered to engineer and build the striking, groundbreaking tires.

Nike’s influence on the interior includes the use of its Sphere material on the H3T’s seats. The lightweight material, used by Nike in specialized clothing, can cool or warm the body without mechanical means. It also conveys a technical aesthetic that looks perfectly at home in the H3T. The seats also are enhanced by Nike Epic backpacks, which are integrated into seat-back clamshells and released with elastic bungees.

“The Nike collaboration is unique and exciting,” said Dean. “It allowed us to share ideas and thoughts, while comparing our design process with a world leader in design innovation. The experience has enhanced the whole H3T project.”

HUMMER design language

The H3T’s classic proportions reflect its off-road ability, but also symbolize HUMMER’s expressive styling – an American design that says as much about driver freedom as HUMMER’s off-road experience.”It’s a minimalist approach that conveys purpose,” said Dean. “The H3T represents the continual approach to HUMMER’s overall design theme – simple in appearance yet strong to the touch. From parts like the door handles to the dashboard details, the H3T looks and feels as if it’s been milled from a solid billet of steel or aluminum.”

That purposeful appearance is delineated from the HUMMER H1’s military roots.

“We evolved the HUMMER design language with the H2,” said Dean. “But we’re continuing that vision and progressing the brand.”

The H3T’s purposefully premium interior environment includes a rugged shifter handle that folds completely forward and military-inspired toggle switches for various controls. An altimeter, compass and inclinometer also are mounted on the dashboard.

The technical leather and Nike-designed Sphere seat fabric continue to support the athletic, performance theme of the H3T, as do the chamois, petrol and paprika orange interior colors.

“It’s not necessarily a luxury environment in the classic sense – it’s a new type of luxury,” said Dave Lyon, interior design director for body-on-frame vehicles. “The expression of quality through the use of specific materials conveys a premium look without the use of traditional luxury appointments like wood or leather.”

The same goes for the H3T’s exterior, which features high-tech, yet durable, LED headlamps and taillamps, an integrated winch and tow hooks, as well as front and rear skid plates that are stamped out of aluminum and joined with side “rock sliders.” There also are control arm and rear axle skid plates, along with a carbon fiber skid plate/belly pan, which protects the vehicle when off the road and aids aerodynamic efficiency on the highway.

A brush guard is integrated with the front skid plate and the taillamps have integrated lens protectors. Driving/marker lamps are built into the side-view mirrors.

The exterior colors, Petrol Blue Metallic and Satin Titanium Alloy, fuel the H3T’s theme of a rugged vehicle with serious attitude. The forward-opening hood is aided by trigger-operated latches, which integrate into the trademark HUMMER hood louvers. An exposed radiator is another classic HUMMER styling cue and a camera mounted on the hood can be used to record off-road excursions in DVD format.

At the rear, the tailgate features exposed hinges (with integrated gas struts) and cantilevers to provide an unbroken load platform for the bed. The bed is more than 4 feet wide and has very small fender intrusions.

“The H3T supposes a new realm of rugged, yet premium choices for drivers who find larger vehicles don’t fit their needs,” said Lyon. “With the H3T, a whole new group of driving enthusiasts benefits from the relevance of HUMMER’s unflappable capability. There simply is nothing like it in the midsize truck market.”

Purposeful powertrain

The H3T is built on a modified GM midsize truck platform, including the coil-over front and rear suspensions. Fox remote-reservoir shocks are used for the ultimate in off-road dampening. An automatic transfer case locks the vehicle into four-wheel drive when needed. The locking front and rear axles on the H3T are borrowed from full-size GM trucks. Braking is accomplished with four-wheel discs from Alcon. The 15-inch-diameter rotors are clamped down upon with Baer six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston calipers in the rear. Nineteen-inch wheels are mounted at all corners.

A 350-horsepower, turbocharged version of GM’s new Vortec 3500 inline five-cylinder engine powers the H3T, and it’s backed by the heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65-E electronically controlled four-speed transmission. The turbocharged five-cylinder produces more power than most six-cylinder engines, but is more compact. The engine also makes 350 lb.-ft. of torque, which helps the H3T tackle steep terrain with ease.

Fuel-saving variable valve timing technology, which is available on some of GM’s four-, five- and six-cylinder engines, boosts the five-cylinder’s efficiency by varying valve timing, lift and duration. It also improves emissions and overall performance.

Although currently a concept vehicle, the H3T was built with production-type components, including chassis and suspension components that were leveraged from existing GM truck architectures.

“Everything about the H3T says HUMMER,” said Dean. “The package may be a little smaller, but the personality, functionality and, most importantly, the off-road superiority is all there.”

H3 packs uncompromising HUMMER style and capability into its midsize dimensions. Compared to the H2, the H3 is 16.9 inches (429 mm) shorter in length, 6 inches (152 mm) shorter in height and 6.5 inches (165 mm) narrower. Roughly the same length as a midsize family sedan, H3 comfortably navigates city traffic and delivers HUMMER’s trademark crawling and climbing capability.

Powered by the Vortec 3500 engine with dual overhead cams and variable valve timing, the H3 is projected to reach peak fuel economy of up to 20 miles per gallon. Specifically designed as a truck engine, the Vortec 3500 is a 3.5L inline five-cylinder offering an excellent combination of power and efficiency. It delivers 220 horsepower (164 kw) at 5600 rpm and 225 lb.-ft. of torque (305 Nm) at 2800 rpm.

H3 will be the first HUMMER to offer the choice of a manual or an automatic transmission – either a standard, smooth-shifting five-speed manual transmission or a Hydra-Matic 4L60-E electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission.

The H3 was engineered for off-road leadership among midsize SUVs. The heart of the truck’s capability is its electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system. The system is augmented with features such as traction control, underbody shielding, an optional rear locking differential and StabiliTrak stability control with the automatic transmission. H3 offers two tire packages, a Goodyear 32-inch, all-terrain tire and Bridgestone 33-inch off-road tire, both larger than those found on any other midsize SUV.

Among its off-road capabilities, the H3 can ford 16 inches (407 mm) of water at 20 mph or 24-inch (610 mm) streams at a 5-mph pace, climb 16-inch (407 mm) vertical steps and rocks, make its way through deep sand and race over sandy surfaces.

These approach and departure angles permit the H3 to drive right into a hole and back out again, without getting hung up in front or rear.

In addition to its uncompromised off-road capabilities, the H3 also provides the refinement, comfort and convenience required for enjoyable driving. It offers premium options such as heated leather seats, a large electric sliding sunroof, a DVD-based navigation radio and numerous customized accessories.

H3’s bold looks make it readily identifiable as a HUMMER. It’s a matter of form following function.

HUMMER owners value the inherent strength and feeling of security their trucks exude. The H3 fulfills that promise with available features such as standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control (automatic transmission), roof rail-mounted side curtain air bags, rollover protection system, and stout vehicle structure projected to earn top safety ratings for both the driver and passenger in front and side impacts.

OnStar-equipped H3s will feature OnStar Dual-mode (analog-digital) equipment.

The OnStar service standard on the 2006 H3s includes the General Motors Advanced Automatic Crash Notification (AACN) system, making crash data available to the participating 911 centers to help them dispatch the appropriate life-saving personnel and equipment to crash scenes faster.

HUMMER owners value the inherent strength and feeling of security their trucks exude. The H3 fulfills that promise with available features such as StabiliTrak electronic stability control, roof rail-mounted side curtain air bags, rollover protection system, tire pressure monitor and stout vehicle structure designed to earn top safety ratings for both the driver and passenger in front and side impacts.

The H3 incorporates structural enhancements designed to help in crash protection, as well as a number of advanced safety systems to assist in both crash avoidance and protection, including a reinforced passenger compartment safety cage that helps provide protection in the event of side and frontal impacts. The strong, rigid steel structure surrounds the passenger compartment, runs from the A-pillars to the roof rail, back to the D-pillars and includes the bottom rocker panels, under-floor longitudinals and frame. The all-steel body panels and exceptionally strong frame further help protect occupants in a collision. The fully welded, ladder-type frame optimizes crash performance, in addition to standing up to rigorous off-road requirements.

Additional crash protection is provided by a standard frontal dual-stage air bag system. The H3 has GM’s Passenger Sensing System, which uses weight-sensing technology to turn the front passenger air bag on or off as appropriate. If the sensor system detects an unoccupied front passenger seat or the presence of a smaller occupant, the front passenger air bag is designed to automatically turn off so it would not deploy in the event of a frontal collision. Even with this system, GM strongly recommends restraining child passengers 12 and under in an appropriate child seat or, for older children, lap-and-shoulder belts in the second or third row of the vehicle.

Optional roof rail-mounted, side curtain air bags drop down to the belt line to help provide head and rollover protection for the driver and front passenger. A rollover protection sensing system also helps protect occupants against impending rollovers by triggering side curtain air bags to increase the likelihood of occupant containment in a rollover event. Seat belt pretensioners help keep occupants in the proper position, reducing their likelihood making contact with the inside of the vehicle.

For 2006, the H2 unveils a new special edition with a Pacific Blue exterior, body color fender molding, a unique rocker molding with an integrated assist step, 17-inch polished forged aluminum wheels, carbon fiber interior accents and a lower-profile roof-mounted lightbar. In addition, the special edition has a heated windshield wiper system with warm fluid that removes snow, ice and debris. Finally, the special edition offers a rear-seat DVD system with dual headrest-mounted viewing screens.

The H2 production model offers new outside rear view mirrors for the 2006 model year.

The H2 have short overhangs for radical approach and departure angles and exceptional ground clearance for minimal impact on trails. The 17-inch wheels, heavy-duty independent front suspension and five-link rear suspension provide superior handling, carrying and towing capability.

H2’s power is derived from the standard Vortec 6000 6.0L V-8 that generates 325 horsepower (242 kw) at 5200 rpm and 365 lb.-ft. of torque (494 Nm) at 3600 rpm. The engine is mated to a heavy-duty Hydra-Matic 4L65-E four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. H2 also features a standard, powertrain-integrated Borg-Warner two-speed electrically controlled full-time 4WD system.

The TCS also includes the ability to gain traction through a single wheel, if necessary, and more wheel slip in the traction control mode for sand and desert racing conditions.

Styling matches uncompromising off-road ability

Daring and attention-getting is how the H2’s exterior design is often described. The H2 are instantly recognizable as belonging to a highly exclusive brand at the top of its class in off-road performance. The look and feel conveys the sense of power, authority and complete control that buyers seek.H2’s square-shaped body and upright windshield and windows combine to create significant interior room. The vertical glass opens up a broader front and wider side view. In a nod to the functional aspect of design, exposed components, like hood lift handles, hood latches and fasteners, give H2’s appearance an individually component-assembled quality.

For maximum flexibility, the second-row seats can be individually folded. For maximum comfort, they feature a high-back design. With the SUV, a single-passenger seat is available for the third row, giving the SUV six-passenger capacity.

For maximum flexibility, the second-row seats can be individually folded. For maximum comfort, they feature a high-back design. With the SUV, a single-passenger seat is available for the third row, giving the SUV six-passenger capacity.Like its brother, the H2 SUV, the SUT carries passengers and cargo with comfort and ease.

Using a separate switch, the standard sunroof can also be opened, giving SUT a truly open-air feeling, like driving a convertible.

Ask for directions? Never!

The beauty of a HUMMER is the ability to go pretty much anywhere. And on road it’s not a problem if the driver is unsure of how to get there, thanks to the available Navigation Radio, now with touch-screen controls. With the push of a button, the navigation operation will instantly map routes with 2-D and 3-D full-color map views on a 5.8-inch (147-mm) display screen, making maneuvering on highways and streets effortless.

H2 safety, comfort and convenience features include standard frontal air bags; four-way adjustable headrests, arm rests and seat-mounted lap-shoulder belts for front passengers; lap and B pillar-mounted shoulder belts for second-row outboard passengers and a seat-mounted lap-shoulder belt for the center passenger; and a seat-mounted lap-shoulder belt and adjustable headrest for the optional third-row seat.

The OnStar safety and security system is standard on every H2 and H2 SUT, and features OnStar Dual-mode (analog-digital) equipment.
