2008 Hummer HX Concept
More compact than a HUMMER H3 – 81 inches (2,057 mm) wide, with a 103-inch wheelbase (2,616-mm) – the HX concept is an open-air, two-door off-road vehicle that packs the off-road acumen for which HUMMER has become legendary, along with an easily convertible body that acclimates to varied trail conditions, cargo needs or passenger whims. Its design is based on the ideas developed by a trio of young designers who are new to the HUMMER studio.
“The HX is HUMMER’s vision of an agile, trail-ready, open-air vehicle that fits the lifestyles of everyone who needs or wants to drive off road,” said Martin Walsh, HUMMER general manager. “Of course, it carries exceptional off-road capability and the distinctive styling for which all HUMMERs are known.”
Hummer Mountain Rescue
The H3 is the only vehicle of it’s size that can climb a 407mm vertical wall or 60% slope, traverse a 40% side slope and operate in up to 610mm of water, making it a sure-footed choice for Mountain Rescue. To make the vehicle even more effective for Mountain Rescue, HUMMER has enhanced the vehicle with a number of specialist features including grill and roof mounted spotlights to aid visibility in treacherous conditions and rocker panel protection which gives added protection to the lower body and door panels against rock strikes and other strong blows.
2010 Hummer H4 Preview
After the presentation of the Hummer HX concept car on the Detroit Motor Show we had a pretty good impression of a smaller Hummer, that is coming up. But, while the HX shows more a rough, tough dune-buggy- like vehicle, the production version, of course, will be a lot less exaggarated and more accessible for consuments.
The H4’s design is defined by typical Hummer-design clues, such as the grille, the head- and taillights and the overall boxy design. However, these are all given a modern inerpretation and a more futuristic twist. The design style is very plain, simple and geometric.
